I'd been running with Austin for over an hour.
My wolf was enjoying the freedom. However she wasn't fully free.
I wasn't born with the ability to shift like some.
But although I was in human form, running carelessly is still the best therapy anyone could get.
Austin however, was a lucky bastard. He was shifting into his wolf form since he was seven I think.
I zig zagged through a row of trees and was about to jump over a boulder when I stopped dead in my tracks.
There was a howl. For me.
It was Austin. It sounded like he was frantic. He got closer, I could hear his paws hit the forest floor as he ran.
I ran as fast as I could on my two feet, which is pretty fast.
Since I was little I hear this voice a inside of my head.
My parents tried several times to explain to me that there was a wolf's soul living inside of me and when I was old enough the wolf would come out at certain times and I wouldn't be Jaime anymore.
I could feel my wolf's fear right now. Along with my own fear. She told me to keep running and I did.
The howling got more frantic and louder as I ran.
I stopped for a second letting my ears pick up were Austin was.
East.
I turned and ran more until I saw his wolf.
I stood by a tree as he shifted. He was able to shift quickly now. He was used to the pain.
We stood up from the ground in human form. Naked of course.
"We need to get out of here right now!" Austin yelled.
"What's wron..." I began to ask but was rudely cut off only to hear Austin yelling there isn't any time.
Suddenly, everything stopped.
The wind, the chirping of the birds, the rustle of the leaves.
Austin was quiet, he was standing a couple feet away from me.
He started walking towards me very slowly and cautiously. Occasionally looking up, using only his eyes and not moving his head.
I stood completely paralyzed in my position, not sure what was happening but my senses told my not to move or talk.
Austin grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug, ever so slowly.
"Listen, when I say so you need to run, run back to the house as fast as you can. Don't look back and don't worry about me, my mission is to protect you and that is what I'll do." He whispered into my ear while we were hugging.
"I dont understand. What's wrong? What are you looking at?" I whispered back.
"Just do as I told you. Never look back."
A few seconds later, Austin quickly pulled away, launched my behind him and yelled "Run! Go, Jaime!"
I did as I was told, I ran, swerved the trees, and made scratch marks on the trees, something my parents taught me to do in situations such as this one.
I heard the loudest growl you could ever imagine behind me.
Curiosity overtook me and I looked back.
I regret it as soon as I saw what I saw.
The was this enormous wolf like figure standing on its two hind legs, it was incredibly tall and very built. It's eyes we're glowing red with traces of orange. Almost fire like. It had a shining black coat of fur, it was miraculous, and terribly frightening, and I know what it was. It got on its four legs again and watched Austin shift.
