(Hayes's POV)

Leah calmed down 20 minutes later, and the rain had let up. But it didn't take to long after that for her to pass out from exhaustion. So I called Nash to see if he could come pick us up.

I hadn't told him Leah was with me because I didn't want him to get the wrong idea, so he agreed. I was sitting up against a tree in the small park with Leah leaning on me.

Most people look peaceful in their sleep, but not Leah. She kept moving and whispering things while frowning. I wanted to wake her up but I knew she needed the sleep.

I looked up from Leah and seen Nash's car drive up. But when the door opened it wasn't Nash, it was Aaron. One of our good friends. Nash must have sent him instead.

"Hey man, long time no see." He says while walking over to me. Then he notices Leah.

"Who's the girl?" He asks while wiggling his eyebrows. I roll my eyes at him.

"She's just a friend." I say and stand up pulling Leah with me. "Her name is Leah."

"Hm." Aaron says looking between us. "She's young." He states. "Freshmen?" I nod and pick her up bridle style. She makes a noise and hold onto me, but doesn't wake up,

I can see the smirk on Aaron's face but he doesn't say anything. We walk to the car and he opens the door for me. And helps me slide Leah onto the seats. I crawl in next to her and Aaron goes around to the other side.

"So what's her story?" He asks after starting the car.

"What do you mean?" Aaron doesn't go to our school so he doesn't know anything about Leah.

"I mean why's the girl practically passed out in a park?" He asks and looks at me threw the mirror.

I shrug. "Long story." I sigh and look at her. She had dry tears in her face and looked completely broken and small.

Aaron doesn't say anything else just keeps his eyes on the road.

Within ten minutes were home. I get out of the car and go around the other side to Leah but Aaron's already there. "I got her." He says picking her up with ease.

"...Okay." I say hesitantly.

We walk up the porch and I open the door letting Aaron in with Leah before following them to the living room. Aaron sets he down on the couch.

"Mom! Nash!" I yell looking around. "I'm home!"

My mom walks around the corner from the kitchen wiping her hands with a towel.

"Hey Hayes. Where have you been?" She asks looking at her watch. "You've been gone all day and it's nearly 9?"

"Long story." I say symboling to Leah. "But anyway I'm going to go grab something for her to change into, can you make some hot chocolate or something?" I ask shivering from the rain.

"Of course." She says after looking at Leah for a moment.

I run upstairs and change quickly before grabbing a hoodie and sweats for Leah. They'll obviously be big on her but they'll keep her warm.

When I come back down stairs Aaron's helping my mom in the kitchen. "Where's Nash?" I ask while walking past the kitchen.

"Not sure, he said he had something important to do, but wouldn't say what." Aaron answered.

Weird.

"Oh."

I walk back to Leah and shake he shoulder lightly.

"Mhpt." She makes a weird noise and I laugh a little.

"Leah." I say. "Wake up before you freeze to death." She slowly opens her eyes, squinting be at first. "Hey sleeping beauty." I joke.

"Where are we?" She asks sitting up and looking around.

"My house." I answer.

"W-what?" She stutters standing up quickly. I give her a confused look.

"Yeah one of my good friends, Aaron came and got us." I say as my mom and Aaron walk back into the living room.

"Oh Leah, this is my mom, Mom this is Leah."

"It's nice to meet you." My mom says shaking Leah's hand. I roll my eyes.

"And that's Aaron." I say pointing at Aaron. "I'm not sure where Nash and Sky are but you can meet them later."

"Okay." She says avoiding eye contact with anyone.

"Hayes, why don't you give her something to change into." My mom says symboling to the clothes I was holding.

"Oh right." I say hanging Leah the cloths. "Here, there's a bathroom right over there. To the right" I say pointing to the bathroom.

"Why don't you take a shower to." My mom added. "So you don't get sick."

"Thanks." She says before awkwardly walking away.

"So?" My mom says once Leah's in the bathroom. "What's going on?"

"What?" I play the dumb card since it's not my business to tell them.

"Why did you come home with a soaked girl late at night who was passed out?" Yeah okay so it seem kinda suspicious.

"She's just a friend, and she's got a lot of stuff going on right now, she just needs a place to stay for a while." I sigh. And my mom looks at me before nodding.

"Okay well she can stay for a while if she needs. But no funny business." Oh god.

"Mom!" I face palm. "She's 13!"

"Okay. Okay." My mom laughs before walking away. I pick up one of the mugs of hot chocolate and take a sip. "Oh and Hayes, your dads coming home in a few weeks."

I spit out my drink and start coughing. "What?!" I gasp between coughs. I hadn't seen my dad in years. I mean I hardly know the guy. Nash knows him pretty well, or at least he did. But then he up and left.

"He called me last night. He's coming home." He said with an uncertain look on her face, like she didn't want to see him. "Don't tell Nash yet though."

I nod and set my mug back down. My dad was coming home.

Wow.
