The 36th annual Hunger Games

I wake up and remember that today is Reaping day. I get out of bed and put on my khaki pants and a blue button up shirt. I walk to the kitchen and see my mom there cooking. "Morning mom." I usually say 'good morning', but today was anything but good. My little brother, Vance, will have his name in the bowl today. If he gets reaped, I'll volunteer for him. I walk outside and walk to the beach. It's the only place I can actually feel at peace. Before I know it, it's time to go. I walk towards the justice building, where there are peacekeepers everywhere. I get my finger pricked and walk into the section for the seventeen year old males. I stand in the middle of a bunch of boys and wait. The escort comes out after the movie. "Good afternoon, District Four!" She says in her stupid Capitol accent. "As always, ladies first!" She pulls a slip of paper out of the big glass bowl. "Vidia Beech." A few girls look at one girl. She was sixteen, with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She slowly walks up onto the platform. "And now for the boys!" She pulled a slip out of the other bowl. "Finnigan Odair." My heart started beating extremely fast. I looked around and walked out. I turned and saw my mother crying, Vance hugging her tightly. I walked up and looked at the girl, Vidia. The escort said something else, but I didn't hear her. I then shook Vidia's hand, and we walked into the justice building, the doors closing behind us.
