Chapter One
Arianna’s POV
*beep beep* I awoke abruptly and slammed my hand down on the alarm nearly crushing it. I groaned loudly as I tried to pull myself up into a sitting position under my duvet covers. I squinted against the harsh sunlight that forced itself through the white curtains that hung over the windows. A series of short knocks erupted from the other side of my bedroom door and were followed by a loud male voice, “ Aria, get your lousy butt up!” I looked back at the clock and realized that I had slept in nearly half an hour and had only twenty minutes to get across town to school. I jumped quickly out of my bed and rushed to the rather large closet. I grabbed a dark washed pair of skinnies from the shelves and my ‘born to be bad’ t-shirt off the hanger. I grabbed my black leather jacket and shoved my feet into my leather boots. I walked across the room to my mirror and brush out the tangles from my reddish brown hair. On my way out the door I grabbed my leather satchel filled with my sunglasses and other various things and my iPhone from the stand beside my bed. I sprinted down the hall to the bathroom where I somewhat attempted brushing my teeth. I briskly walked the rest of the way down the hall into the kitchen where my step-brother, Troy, stood buttering some toast. He turned around to face me with a piece of toast hanging out of his mouth and his face lit up. I smiled back at him and ripped the buttered toast out of his hands. He stifled a noise somewhere between a scream and a growl and successfully choked himself. I laughed as I rushed out of our apartment, which lucky for me is on the ground level, and headed over to my street bike. I hopped on glancing at the time and realizing I had exactly 8 minutes to get to the other side of town. I started my bike and zipped out into the street narrowly missing a collision with a mini van.
*7 minutes and 49 seconds later*
I screeched to a halt directly outside of the main entrance to the school and parked my bike without bothering to park it in an actual parking spot. I took my helmet off and sprinted into school. My legs were slightly wobbly from the near death experiences I had just lived through and I stumbled slightly down the hall to my first period. As I walked through the door of my World Literature class the bell starting first period rung out. A huge sigh of relief left my mouth when I realized that I had, once again, narrowly avoided being late.
I strutted over to my seat which was located in the end of the front row farthest the door and plopped down in relief. I had earned this spot when I had successfully snuck out the window during class. The teacher, Miss Kunce glared at me from her desk and cleared her throat to get everyones attention. As she started to talk I quickly tuned her out and nearly died of a heart attack when someone from behind whispered in my ear. “I see you have decided to grace us with your presence today, Aria,” my best friend Shawn muttered to me. I turned slightly in my seat to answer him, “I would have felt bad to leave you here all by your lonesome to tend to your gloomy and boring life.” He smirked, “Not everyone can be highly skilled motorcycle drivers with a need for speed.”
“Shawn, Arianna, is there something you would like to share with your classmates?” Miss Kunce questioned us mockingly. Being the speedy person I am, I beat Shawn to the answer, “Shawn was just trying to remember what number husband you were on, is it the 7th or the 8th?” The whole class let out a roar of ohhhhh’s and giggles while poor Miss Kunce’s face proceeded to turn a shade of red darker then an apple. “That’s it, both of you to the principals office.” Before strutting out the door, I stopped to receive several high fives from appreciative classmates. I glanced around the room noticing that Aaron, my other partner in crime, appeared to be missing. “That’s unusual,” I thought to myself.
