I took a deep breath when I looked around my new room. It's a lot bigger than my last one with a walk in cloest and it's own bathroom, but I guess thats what you get when your dad is owns five star hotels around the counrty and most recently the world. My mom is an retired supermodel from the 80s. We've moved from Austin, Texas to New York city because my decided to relocate his offices and my mom wants to get into interior design because and I guote "I'm not gonna lounge around this house like furniture!" How ironic. Once I landed in the city I can already tell it's different from Texas, the energy, the people the buildings, everything. I sigh as a pull out a photo of my friends from back home, I already miss them so much but not as much as I'll miss my best friend Kimberly Anne. She was this spunky blonde with the greenest eyes you'll ever see, she was a girl who didn't take shit from anyone. I'll miss her jokes, her crazy ideas, and her amazing positve energy. As I was leaving Kimberly thought it was "necessary" to give me a pep talk before I left Texas. "Okay hon look I know you're gorgeous and all but you just can't let them New York folk walk all over ya! If any of them ever try to step up to you you give them the grand ol' Texas glare and you'll be sendin' them shaking in their boots." She says. I can't help but to laugh at her and her ridiculous advice. Now looking back at our last moment together a tear comes from my eye and I quickly wipe it away, I know Kimberly wouldn't appove of me crying on my first day of the big city.

"Zarah honey! Are you done unpacking? If so come downstairs your father and I want to talk to you!" My mom shouted

"Yeah! Just a second!" I yelled back as I placed the picture on my desk.

Once I reach downstairs I meet my mom and dad in the living room sitting on one of the couches.

"Yeah guys?" I say

My mother starts first, "Zarah I know this move was unexpected but I just hope that you to let your hair down and enjoy what New York has to offer." She smiles at me

Then my father clears his throat and starts his lecture, "Zarah while I want you to enjoy this move I do want you to focus on your studies okay?"

"Yes dad." I grumble, I don't know why he doubts me I've been getting straight A's since the first grade.

"Okay sweetie thats all, so go get some rest you'll be starting school tomorrow." My mother says while she gives me a peck on my forehead.

"Goodnight guys" I say as I make my way to my room.

Once I get inside I go straight to my bathroom strip my clothes and take a shower and brush my teeth. When I'm done with my shower I send Kimberly a text and drift off to sleep.

Tomorrows gonna be a long day

-------------------------

Beep, Beep, Beep." I groan loudly as I grab my phone to turn my alarm off. I throw my white comforter back and swing my legs around the bed as I strech my limbs and walk towards my bathroom.

I switch on the light and make my way to the shower and turn on the water to a warm temperature and strip off my pajamas and step into the all black shower. While in the shower I started thinking about the day ahead of me.

I'm going to one of the best private schools in the city and I know no one and that starts to make me nervous. I suck at making new friends I'm surprised that I made some good ones back at home. Once I'm done with my inner therapy session I turn off the water and climb out the shower and walk to my mirror and take in my appearance. I have reddish brown hair, green eyes, golden brown skin, and I stand about 5'6. After I'm done brushing my teeth I decide to start my makeup first and go for light foundation, a winged eyeliner, and add a nice dark shade of pink to my lips. For my hair I decided that I should go for the beachy waves look by going for the natural wave in my hair.

Once I'm done with the beauty portion I walk into my closet and move on to the clothes portion which consists of a green and black plaid skirt, a white loose fitting v neck t shirt and a black blazer. The pros and cons about The Academy are the cons which we have a dress code, but the pros is that we can dress it the way we want to to show off our "uniqueness". I add a pair of cute cutout black heels that aren't to high, and finish my look off with a mens watch my father gave me for my 16th birthday and gold neckless.

When I give myself a look over and a nod of approval I head downstair to our kitchen and my mother is making waffels that smells freaking delicious and my mouth begins to water.

"Zarah are you gonna drool or are you gonna get some juice and have a seat at the breakfast bar?" My mother jokes.

I grab the orange juice from the refrigerator and a glass from the cabinet and sit down.

"Are you ready for your first day of school?" my mother says while putting a waffel on my plate. The thing about my mother is that she is a very optimistic individual. She's always smiling, she loves to make people happy that's why everyone who meets her for the first time falls in love with her.

"Umm yeah but I don't know how the kids at this school are. I don't know how the techers are. I'm just nervous I guess.." I answer truthfully while stuffing my face with these awesome waffles. Note to self buy mom shoes for the waffles.

"Aww honey you will with out a doubt make friends. Just be yourself and you'll have nothing to worry about."

I give her an honest smile and look around. " Where's dad?" I ask.

"Oh, he had to go to the office early today."

That's no surprise my dad is a very business oriented person, I don't get upset about it like some kids would. My dad works very hard to provide for his family so I have no arguments there.

"Well I guess I'll go now." I say while getting off the stool.

"Okay honey, don't forget what I told you." She says while giving me a peck on the cheek.

"Yeah mom I know."

"Oh, and Benny's downstairs at the car waiting for you."

"Okay! Bye mom. See you after school." I say as I walk out the door and make my way to the loby and out the door and come face to face with Benny our personal driver/member of the family since before I was born. Benny was very intimidating individual that stands 6'4 Hispanic with bulging muscles and a tattoo on the side of his neck. As I walk towards Benny a smile appears on his face

"Hello Miss Adams ready for your first day of school?"

"Ready as I'll ever be." I say as I get into the car

------------

When the car stops infront of The Academy my breathing stops and my hands get clammy. I lean my head back against the seat think about what my mom told me this morning and let out the breath I was holding. Benny gets out the drivers seat and opens my for me.

"Miss Adams I going to wait here when school gets out."

I just nod my head and start walking towards the school.

I stop in front of the double doors and mutter to myself "Here goes nothing."
