Chapter 1:- A NEW BEGINNING...A NEW SCHOOL (LYCÉE)
I took a deep breath. I could feel my heart thump in my chest. I was freaking out. It was the month of April as far as I remember, the beginning of a new session. The School was new for me as I was recently rolled into it. And It was just the first day. I was in class 3 and being in a new school at that tender age really has a drastic effect on a kids mind.
The first thing I remember about the school is, The building was old and there was no playground like the one I had in my previous school, which I left because It was far far away from our house that we recently moved into. I hated the School immediately. I was good in academics at that time, I could have easily got a chance in a much better school with a playground may be. Maybe it was our financial condition that made my parents compromise.
I belonged to a mediocre family.I entered the school. I was tensed and there were beads of perspiration on my forehead. I was tensed because I was not good in interacting with new people. The Second thing I remember about the first day in school is that girl on the first bench. She was beautiful with a strange joy reflecting in her eyes. She was tall...as tall as I was and a different type of happiness seemed to radiate from her appearance. Seeing her made my heart skip a beat.
Talking about appearance, I guess I should also talk about myself. My name is Dean Allen. I was tall (not that giant type of tall but regular type of tall). I had a lot of baby fat as most of the kids have around that age. I used to have a crouching posture whenever I was tensed and I had really small eyes. My hair was cut very very small as my mom said, " you should have a good impression on the teachers from the first day as First impression is the last impression. And yeah don't be mischievous as I got two pairs of eyes one right here and one always behind you. whatever you do I will always get to know". That line always used to give me a 'fasten your seatbelt something's surely gonna go wrong' type of feeling.
I made my way into the classroom and immediately everyone shot a glance at me with bloodshot red eyes (NO NO NO...this book's genre is not horror or thriller. I am also not mixing up my story with some Zombie film but really their eyes were red maybe for crying as small kids usually do cry while going to school or may be it was just my hallucination. Never mind.) Immediately my consciousness asked me to run for my life and hide behind a couch as he himself was doing so.
Anyways I advanced further into the classroom and made myself comfortable at the last bench. Soon a lady with an afro hairstyle (please don't sue me or blast me off for this statement. I am really sorry for this and I am still scared of you. It was just my childish mind that imagined it as an afro) entered the class. She was our class teacher. She introduced me to the whole class.
And as a few classes went by, I found out that the guy sitting beside me was Albert and he was differently abled.
