Chapter One: The New Girl In Town

Derek's POV***

I throw Liam up against the wall of my burnt down house his eyes yellow and shining.

"You need to learn how to control it!" I shout at him.

Out of the corner of my eye I see my pack sitting there watching as Liam tries to control it.

"The moon, the stars, the truth." I hear Liam repeat over and over again, making my lips twitch into a small. A very small smile.

"Come on Liam you're strong you can do it." I get onto my knee and put my hand on his shoulder.

Liam looks back up to me his eyes back to normal and his heart beat is slowing down.

"Good job. We can take a break!" I shout and walk away to be alone. I'm always alone.

"Hey Der!" I hear Lu shout to me as Elena and her run up to face me.

"Why aren't you with the rest of the pack?" Elena asks I can see confusion in her eyes.

"I want to be alone and I don't want to see you making out with your boyfriends like horny rabbits." I smile slightly.

"I think your just jealous!" Luna states. I raise my eyebrow in confusion.

"No I'm not." I insist but I realise in the back of my head that I want something like what Elena and Isaac have, same with Luna and Scott. I want to find my mate.

"You want to find your mate don't you?" Elena asks as we sit down on the steps.

"I'm starting to think she's dead or something!" I stress pulling at my hair. My wolf wants to find its mate so badly that it hurts and it keeps me up at nights on end. But me being me I put up my walls and act all brooding just so no-ones sees how much I'm really struggling.

"Oh Derek it'll be fine." Luna says as she puts an arm around me and Elena puts her hand on my leg comforting me.

"How do you know?" I look at Luna my eyes welling up with tears.

These girls are the only people I fully trust, they remind me of my sisters. That's why I'm not afraid to let my feelings show around them.

"Derek Lu and I know so." Elena looks at me full of confidence.

"I guess we will go home and give you some time away from us. Make sure you have some fun it is Saturday after all!" Luna says smiling as Elena and her wave goodbye.

After everyone leaves only Peter and I are left in my house. I walk upstairs to my room and lie down on my bed shirtless.

I fall into a sleep full of nightmares.

////// Sunday //////

Elena's POV***

"ELENA!" I hear my half brother yell which hurts my ears considering I have super hearing.

"WHAT?" I yell back twice as loud. I hear his feet thudding up the stairs. He pokes his head through my door.

"Some people have moved in next door." Scott's says excitedly. "Get changed mums taking us over to meet them."

With that he runs out of the room. Since I had a shower last night I decide that I will just get changed.

I put on some skinny jeans with a hole in the knee, a nirvana crop top, a black beanie to cover up my God awful bed head and some black boots. I quickly out on some make up so I at least look like I'm not a zombie and I run downstairs to see Scott and my mum at the door waiting for me.

"Took you long enough!" Scott complains.

"Shut  your trap dog breath." I bark back.

"God you guys are annoying." My step mum laughs to herself as we walk over to the house next door.

My mum knocks on the door and when it opens we see a middle aged woman with short hair standing at the door way. She's wearing some navy blue jeans and a tank top. I'm guessing she's cleaning up the house.

"Uh hello?" She says in a strong Australian accent.

"Hi I'm Melissa, this is my step daughter Elena, and my son Scott. We live right next door to you." My mum smiles politely.

"Oh hello! I'm Jenny nice to meet you all, come in I have some cookies and would anyone like a drink?" Jenny asks.

"I would like a coffee please." Mum says.

"Water." Scott and I say at the same time.

"Coming right up!" Jenny says.

Jenny gives us our drinks and my mum and her get to talking.

"So where are you from?" Mum asks.

"Oh we are from Sydney." Jenny replies.

"We?" I ask as I hear someone run down the stairs.

"Mum do know where my leather jacket is?" A girl walks into the kitchen. She stops when she sees all of us and smiles.

She is wearing some leggings with some mesh cut outs, a white crop top, black boots and a fedora. She has blonde hair and some tattoos on her shoulder going a little down her arm.

"It's right here sweetie." Jenny hands the girls jacket over to her and she slips it on.

"Hi I'm Sam." She waves awkwardly to us.

"I'm Elena this is my brother Scott and my mum Melissa." I reply smile warmly at her.

"Nice to meet you!" She says.

"Sam will be attending Beacon Hills tomorrow." Jenny says.

"That's good Elena and Scott go there too they will make sure you feel welcome. Right guys?" My mum looks at us.

"Yeah we will!" Scott smiles looking genuinely happy to meet this girl.

"Yeah you could hang out with us." I say as I feel my phone vibrate and I check the message.

Pack meeting at my place now!
-Derek.

I show Scott the text.

"Mum can we borrow the car?" I ask my mum as I show Scott the message.

"No cause I have to use it for work." My mum says.

"I could drive you I was about to go out anyway." Sam proposes.

"Yeah sure thanks." I say as we all head out to her car.

"Nice car." Says Scott.

"Thanks." She mumbles.

I give her the address and we get to Derek's place in 10 minutes.

"Thanks for driving us." I wave and get out with Scott.

"Ok bye!" Sam says unsure about the location.

"Bye see you at school." Scott waves and she waves back driving off.

Derek's POV***

//////same time when Sam was dropping off Elena and Scott///////

I smell something. Something absolutely perfect. I feel my claws grow. What's happening?

"Derek your eyes they are glowing red!" Jackson points out.

I collapse on the ground panting trying to get to air but all I'm smelling is that smell I can't quite place.

I can finally breathe again after 5 minutes and I calm down and Elena and Scott walk in.

"What's wrong Derek?" Elena asks as she runs to my side on my other side is Luna.

"I-I don't know...." I mumble.
