Quiet.

That's all I want, but what I get is the constant, loud squeak of the bed springs in my sister's room. Since my parents are gone for a month for some irrelevant army seminar, they asked me and my sister to watch over their house and their dog Oreo.

Who was put outside because someone's wimp of a boyfriend, Mark, is afraid of him. So he is stuck out their until Mark decides to go home. Which could be forever considering that he's been here for almost two week now.

I try to put my pillow over my head, in hopes of blocking out the sounds, but I still am able to hear their annoying squeaks and moans.

I get up, deciding that I'm not going to be able to sleep while those rabbits are going at it. So I go to the bathroom and begin my daily routine, I brush my teeth, shower, do my hair, then makeup. While brushing my teeth, I hear that the noise has completely stopped.

"Finally," I muttered, spitting in the sink and then washing my toothbrush off.

But I spoke too soon, because the noise started again, but this time it's ten times louder.

I groaned, stomping toward the noise. I pound repeatedly on the door, "for the love of all things holy, shut up. It's nine in the morning, can you guys calm down," I yelled. Muttering was heard, before someone let out a bellowing laugh. The door opens revealing my sister, Ryan, dressed in an oversized black t-shirt.

"Can I help you?" She let's her eyes scan me from head to toe, judgement filling her eyes.

I wish I could say that my sister and I are close, but we aren't, sadly. She has always looked down upon me, making snide comments whenever she can. The strain on our relationship branches back to our childhood, when we'd be compared by different people. Our family members would compare things from our grades to our behavior and how well we did in school. I was considered the "better" and "perfect" child while she was thought as the "troubled" child.

One day someone went as far as to say that I had prettier hair, and the next day, I woke up and half of my hair was cut off. I cried so hard while Ryan only joyfully basked in my saddness. My parents of course noticed the absence of hair and grilled Ryan. Of course she admitted to have been the culprit only after denying it about twelve times. She was grounded, which resulted in her missing her crush's birthday party, giving her another reason to hate me. Even after I lose, I lose even more.

"Yeah, could you guys quiet down or possibly even stop? I would like to enjoy my free time before my first class," I said, flashing her a small smile.

She rolls her eyes and closes the door in my face. "She's so annoying," I heard through the door, "she always has a stick lodged up her vagina." They laugh and I huff, walking back to the bathroom, ready to leave and not focus on my screwed up relationship with my sister.
...
After I finish getting ready, I settle on the couch with a bowl of oatmeal turning on the TV to watch reruns of Tom and Jerry. Ryan and Mark come tumbling down the stairs, flopping down on the couch, once again disturbing the peace and quiet. Ryan looks at the TV before rolling her eyes and muttering, "how fücking mature." She grabbed the remote, turning to Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I inhaled and exhaled slowly, not letting her rudeness get to me. I turned my head slightly to see Mark already staring at me, his eyes travelling the parts of my body. I shoot him a questioning look but he just shook his head and continued to stare at me.

I get up, not being able to handle the tension and the weirdness lingering in the room. I wash out my bowl and then grabbed my keys, my bag, and the things I needed for today's classes and decided to drive to a coffee shop on campus. Anywhere is better than being in that house with those people. At a red light, I took out my phone and text my three best friends to meet me at the coffee shop.
...
"Is it awkard? Is it like, I don't know, weird to be in your childhood home, with your sister, who doesn't even like you?" Mia, the youngest of us all, mentally, bluntly asked, referring to my current living condition. "Hella awkward," I answered, bitting into my blueberry muffin. Mia twirls her brown hair while laughing at my response.

Mahogany, Mia's twin sister, mirroring her sister's actions, takes her gold hair and twirls it around her finger and resting her other arm on the table before speaking. "Honestly your sister annoys the crap out of me. She's really petty, her jealousy is keeping her from realizing what an amazing person you are. And her attitude sucks. You're like the best sister ever, the sister I've always wanted." "Hey," Mia frowns, pushing Mahogany's arm out from under her, making her almost hit her face on the table. "Kidding, I'm kidding. I love you Mia Pia," Mahogany smiles, "but in all honesty you're amazing, don't let that stuck up bitch make you feel anything less."

I smile, appreciative of having such a loyal and caring group of friends.

The quietest one of us all, Lauren, my roomate, finally decides to chime in, "plus, you're so authentic, she is just upset that she can't be you, that she could never scratch the surface." Lauren looks down at here cup of green tea, stirs it and then sips it before placing it down again, before nodding. Almost like she's validating her own statement.

"Agreed," Mahogany and Mia said in unison.

"Awe you guys, I love you," I cooed, pulling them into an awkward, over the table group hug.
