After I finished half of my calculus homework since I couldn't figure out how to do the rest I thought about texting Jeremiah for help. I grab my phone from my desk and start a new message typing in Jeremiah's name and start typing "Hey it's Erica" then I stop. I debate back and forth in my head should I text him or not, 5 minutes later I click send then lock and toss my phone to the end of my bed. My anxiety starts up and my fingertips start to sweat and tingle. Not even a minute later my phone lights up. I check my phone and see a text..from Lucas, I slide the notification and unlock my phone to see the message..
Lucas: Hey
"What the hell does he want" I say to myself then I remember how much I like him and then butterflies start to form in my stomach and my cheeks get warm, god damn he gets me in a good mood then I realized how much he makes me mad.
Lucas: So are you done avoiding me..?
Lucas: We haven't spoke since before break
Erica: APUSH..
Lucas: That sounds cool lol, hope you guys have fun! haha
Erica: He is lol. Love history!! Lol
Lucas: Oh thats good, what's his name?
Erica: Jeremiah
Lucas: Jeremiah who?
Erica: I don't know his last name lol, he's new actually..
Lucas: Is he on the football by any chance?
Erica: Yep! Thats him!
Lucas; Ya sure?
Erica: Very positive..lol
Lucas: Oh because I'm talking to him rn..
Erica: Oh lol, he's cool isn't he.
Lucas: Yeah he's cool I guess.. lol
Erica: I guess.. Someone jealous??
Lucas: Not at all haha, he's good I guess..
Erica: He plays basketball too
Lucas: Yeah I heard..
Erica: And very smart, he's in AP and honor classes
Lucas: Also heard that..
Lucas: Aye I gotta go I'll tell him you said Hi
Erica: Don't worry I have his number..lol
Lucas: Alright lol
Erica: Bye
Lucas: Bye
I toss my phone back to the end of my bed and stuff my head in my pillow and scream my head off, I felt stupid about what just happened.
Later that night Amber and I went to Dream Cream, a ice cream parlor around the corner from my house.As we walk in we see some of the guys from the football team and none other than Lucas..and Jeremiah.While ordering our ice cream we hear the guys talking about "hot girls" at our school and their body count and such, then Jaylan, Amber's ex boyfriend and one of the hottest players on the team asked Lucas a question.
"Ok, how about Erica?" says Jaylan,"Erica Garvin's?" asks one other players,"She's cool and has nice eyes."Jeremiah says."Wait 'Lucas' Erica?" asked by another player and laughing at the same time."Wait wait wait Lucas' Erica?" I hear someone say and recognized it as Lucas' voice.My heart starts beating fast and my fingertips start to get sweaty."Don't listen to them, just block it out" Amber whispers to me.We both look back making eye contact with Jaylan and Jeremiah, Jaylan grinning of course.
"Hell nah man don't associate me with that hippo, her body count zero,she never had sex,never kissed anyone, she's dumb as fuck to think I'd like or ever want her fat ass, man she'd probably break my ass." he says laughing, and everybody else joining in. "I'm gonna kick his fucking ass." Amber says. I feel a knot in my stomach as I see Amber start to walk over to their table, Jaylan then gestures his eyes to me and Lucas and all the other guys who were turned away turn around and stare at me. I look down at myself feeling worse than embarrassed. Lucas stands up walking to me, Jeremiah pulls him back,"Really dude." Jeremiah says pushing him back. I start to run out of the ice cream parlor and hear Jeremiah say, "Man you're a fucking asshole, you know that right?".As I run outside I trip over my own two feet and fall to the ground,my ankle then hurts like hell, I think to myself what the hell did I just do it and try to get up but I can't. I see flashing lights of car coming towards me and try to move out of the way but I'm too "fat".
