-Chapter One- The First Day Of School-

"What are you going to wear to school tomorrow?" I ask Lindsay. She looks at me.

"I need help on that." She goes over to her closet and pulls out a hanger. Its a white crop top and an icy blue skirt with white daisies all over it. To go with that is a nutmeg colored belt. "Well, I was thinking this with my new nude heels or..." She heads back in her closet and grabs another hanger. On it was a denim dress with the bra thing on the outside, you know what I mean? It was strapless. "This with my red heels and a white dress shirt."

They are both great outfits but neither would I ever wear. You see, Lindsay is the cheer captain. She has a body to die for and is absolutely gorgeous, like a stereotypical cheer captain in every story ever. But she is actually genuinely nice. Like to everyone. She will not sit with the other cheerleaders, also. She says they're too dumb and all they talk about is who is going to have sex with which football player. Oh, yeah. Lindsay is also dating the football captain, Adam, who is super nice as well. They actually me in 9th grade at a church retreat or whatever. Been together ever since.

"The denim dress tomorrow and the daisy skirt on Tuesday. 'Wear your best outfit the second day' as one wise teenager one told me."

Lindsay laughs. "That is a very true statement, though." If you did't get that, Lindsay is the Wise Teenager.

Lindsay takes my opinion and puts her daisy skirt away, leaving the denim contraption on the end of her bed.

"Now show me what your going to wear tomorrow. And it better not be a dumb tee shirt and converse."

I pull out a navy tee shirt and my white converse and a pair of jeans.

"No, you are simply not wearing that tomorrow!" She snatches my outfit.

"Lindsay!" I whine.

"No! The beginning of the year is to reinvent your self. To make yourself better."

"I think your getting school mixed up with a holiday here." I state. "I'm not changing myself."

"Fine but your wearing this over it." She hands me a package.

We have this 'new school year' tradition of having a sleepover at someone's house and then getting gifts for each other. Its been a tradition for 8 years. Since we were in third grade, the years after we became best friends.

She hands me a large purple wrapped box. I rip through the paper and tear open the box. I pull out mechanical pencils, my favorite, 5 packs of gum, always needed, and grab the clothing item in the bottom of the box. I pull it out and see that its a white, navy and purple flannel. I look back into the box and see something green. I pull it out and see that it's a hoodie.

"EEEEEE!" I squeal. "LINDSAY! Thank you so so so so so much! It's exactly like my other one!"

She smiles at me. "Don't beat around the bush. Your wearing that flannel tomorrow."

"Okay. It's not actually that bad though. I thought you were going to torture me with a dress or something." I laugh nervously.

She looks at me with unbelief. "I would never!" She scoffs. "I can't believe you thought that. Okay, now give me mine."

I hand her a pink bag that has pink ribbon and pink bows everywhere. Inside there was pink tissue paper. She glares at me when she sees it. Lindsay HATES pink with a passion. I smile at her innocently. Inside the bag there are four gifts. She opens it and pulls out 5 packs of gum. We really love gum. OKAY? A pack of pink sticky notes. Another glare was thrown at me. And a pair of silver and red earrings.
