Hi. I'm Sean Van Zyl. I'm a normal twelve year old boy who lives with normal parents in a normal house, except there's one thing about me that no-one else has. I am 'Kid Universe: Protector of our solar system'; with the help of my friends Jaco ('Metal Man') and Thandeka ('The Element') we will save the world from evil forces.

Today started out pretty normally. Dad dropped me off in his lab coat at the school gates of Sunrise Academy.

'Bye Pa!' I called as I got out of the passenger door of my dad's SUV.

'See you this afternoon son!' Dad called back, 'As long as nothing important comes up,' he whispered under his breath. Dad knew about my secret. He was the one who designed and created the hi-tech titanium armour I wear when I'm saving the world. I waved to Dad and ran off towards the doors of the school where Jaco and Thandeka were waiting for me.

'C'mon Sean,' Jaco called. 'We wouldn't want to keep Mrs Botha waiting.' Jaco, Thandeka and I walked through the double glass doors and made a sharp left into the Upper Primary hallway. We entered Class 6B and sat at our designated desks.

After Paki (who was late as usual) sat at his desk Mrs Botha asked us to all settle down.

'Good morning Class 6B,' she called.

'Good morning Mrs Botha' we replied in unison. She asked us all how our weekends had been and then she said the one thing I'd been dreading since I entered class.

'Please take out your Afrikaans homework.' As everyone unzipped their bags and took out their textbooks my body stayed neutral. The last person took out their textbook and I closed my eyes in shame. I'm the only one without my homework I thought. 'Sean Van Zyl, where is your homework?' Mrs Botha asked.

'I left it at home ma'am,' I replied dreading what she was gonna do next. And then it came:

'Sean, you'll be writing it up again in your breaks and free time.' I heard Jan and Tebogo sniggering from the back row. I turned around and scowled at them. Why did I have to leave my homework?!

Everybody handed in their homework textbooks and we all took out our Afrikaans workbooks. About half an hour passed and Mrs Botha told us to put our workbooks away. 'Since we still have fifteen minutes till break the rest of class is free time,' Mrs Botha announced. 'Which can only mean you Sean, have some Afrikaans homework to do.' Jaco and Thandeka walked out of the classroom behind everyone else. 'Good luck Sean,' Thandeka called from the door giving me thumbs up. I hated being forgetful.
