New story! It's a mystery/teen story, so the mystery part is different for me. I'm trying! The mystery doesn't start until chapter 3-ish.
When The Clock Strikes Midnight: Chapter 1
Ever since I was born, my parents have always pushed me to be the smartest person in my grade. And when I passed that, the smartest person in the school. And when I passed that, the smartest person in the town. I didn't think much of it, because that's what parents do, right? They want their children to succeed.
Of course, if you are smart, you'll probably be curious. At least, more curious than other people. And sometimes, that curiosity can lead you into very dangerous situations. I wish I learned this before.
My parents often talked about a school in England called Watkins Academy. Apparently, it is the best school in Europe. Which is probably why my parents sent me there, because it's the best, and their little girl deserves the best.
And so, that is why I stepped on the horrid grounds of a place called Watkins Academy.
London passed me by in a blur. Gray buildings with matching skies and dying grass. I felt drawn to this place though, I'm not sure why. It wasn't particularly pretty, like in Florida, but it was nice in a way.
The Academy took my breath away. It was enormous, with gray walls engrvaed with intricate desgins surrounding the school, and four buildings made a square in the middle of the walls. And in the middle of the buildings, was a giant clock tower soaring into the sky. It was beautiful.
"Either you get out of the taxi, or I'm going to make you get out." A rough voice said. "I don't have all day." The taxi driver put down my bags and walked back into the car. I got out, and watched as it drive away from the school. What's his problem?
I look around me, at the grand school, at they cloudy skies, and at people passing by on the streets. It's been ten minutes. I take out the letter and read it again.
Please wait by the main entrance of Watkins Academy to be escorted inside. The Head Principal will pick you up at 4:00 on October 5. I look at my phone, and it reads 4:05.
Maybe he is just late? People are late, it's understandable. I sit down on one of my bags and wait for someone to come out of the walls. But then five minutes past. And then 10. And then 20. And now, he's 40 minutes late.
I shrug to myself and pick up my bags. He probably just forgot. And just as I begin to walk, a downfall of rain pours down.
"Oh, crap!" I yelled and ran with my bags to one of the four buildings. I ran up the stairs and into the closest building, which was the largest building of them all. I ran inside, soaking wet, and probably looking like a wet dog.
The inside entrance was a giant hall, with dark wood and red walls. I looked around, and a sign pointed me to the main office. Three people were in there, all arguing. I opened the door, and an old man with a graying beard looked at me, most likely the Head Principal.
He widened his eyes. "Oh, you must be Piper Scott." He said Scott with disdain, like he swallowed something rotten. "I'm sorry for not picking you up, my apologies."
I nodded at him, ignoring the fact if he had remembered, I wouldn't be dripping water everywhere. "No problem at all, Mr...." I look around. "Mr. Watkins."
Mr. Watkins looked at the students then at me. "I was just punishing these student for pulling a very nasty prank." Both of them snickered.
The students were, without a doubt, siblings, if not twins. Both had golden blonde hair, and sea blue eyes. More importantly, both were very attractive. One girl, and one boy. I automatically felt self conscious around them.
