By the time Natasha was six months pregnant, Clint's dreams had worsened and an agent from level five was taken.
When Natasha felt the baby move for the first time, she was startled, scared, and amazed at the same time. Her thoughts about the baby had changed- she began to care more and more about it, she also secretly yearned to know the gender, but she didn't tell Clint. Thoughts about what her future would be like if she kept the baby came, which confused Natasha. She never thought she would care about the baby.
When Nick Fury found out about Clint and Natasha dating and also the baby, he was angry at first, but then told the two that their lives would have to be normal after the baby was gone.
There were still no leads on the person who was taking the agents. Fury was growing more and more desperate everyday. He warned all level six agents to keep their eyes open, for they could be next.
Fury called a meeting for the avengers and showed them all the note that was left after the level five agent was taken.
"will soon be gone. Give me what I want, and I won't have to take her."
Everyone stared at the note in silence.
"So, all together it says, 'You don't know me, but you will soon. Prepare yourself, because someone very special will soon be gone. Give me what I wan, and I won't have to take her.' Who's her?" Tony asked out of confusion.
"I hope we don't have to find out." Fury said.
When the two master assassins were back at Natasha's house, she told Clint she was going to take a nap and went to her bedroom and lay down on the bed. She put her hand on her stomach and rubbed it a little. The baby moved, which startled Natasha at first, but then she smiled and rubbed her tummy some more. Before realizing she was even tired, she fell asleep.
Clint, meanwhile, was sitting on the couch, trying to figure out the notes that the person taking the agents had left. He recited it over and over again in his head, until he became frustrated and went to check on Natasha.
He found her, asleep, on the bed with her hand resting on her stomach. Clint silently approached her and lay down facing Natasha. He looked at her stomach and began to talk.
"I know you won't understand what I'm saying, but I still want to say it. For some reason I already love you. I know Natasha doesn't want to keep you, but I do. If she doesn't want to be a mother, I'm alright with that, I guess, because I love her. But I don't want to lose you. I hope that after we give you away, I'll be able to see you. If you somehow can convince your mother to keep you, please do. I want you with all my heart." Clint said. He quietly left the room and sat back on the couch, wondering where those words came from.
Natasha woke up from her nap. She was confused, though, because she heard Clint's long speech and didn't know if it was a dream or real. She didn't think that she was supposed to hear that, so she kept it to herself.
She got off from the bed and walked into her living room to find Clint. He was reading some magazine, which Natasha had never seen before in her life.
"What's that?" She asked, grinning.
"A magazine..." Clint looked up and said, confused that it wasn't obvious to her.
"I meant what are you reading?" Natasha asked, flopping down on the couch next to him.
"Just something." He closed the magazine and threw it on the table next to him.
Natasha reached across Clint and snatched the magazine. It didn't take her long to realize that it was a parenting magazine.
"Clint... I thought..." Natasha became serious and looked at Clint as she slowly closed the magazine.
"I'm sorry. I know we agreed that we weren't going to keep-" he started.
"I heard what you said. I heard the whole thing. To the baby." Natasha said.
"Listen, Nat, I don't know what's gotten into me, but suddenly..." Clint stopped.
"I know. Me too." Natasha said.
"You too?" Clint was surprised.
"I know. It's weird. But recently I've been wanting this baby."
"And it's not just the hormones?" Clint asked.
"Yeah. I can tell what's hormones and what's not." Natasha said.
Clint grabbed her hand. "Whatever happens, I promise I'll be here. Right next to you."
Natasha smiled at him. "I know." She rested her hand on her belly and sighed.
"What?" Clint asked.
"The baby has been moving ever since I woke up. And- oh!" She shrieked.
"What's wrong?" Clint jerked up and turned towards Natasha.
"The baby just- just- kicked!" She exclaimed.
"It's like it wants us to keep it."
Natasha looked at Clint, ignoring his statement. "Wanna feel?" She asked, grabbing his hand and placed it on her stomach.
Clint's eyebrows shot up when he felt the baby kick. "Wow," was all he had to say.
"Kinda weird, huh?" Natasha asked.
Clint nodded. "Totally,"
"Great. Is it ever going to stop kicking now?" She groaned, laughing.
"I don't know about you, but I'm kind of getting tired of calling the baby 'it'." Clint confessed.
Natasha looked at him and smiled. "Me too. Tomorrow lets find out the sex. I'll make an appointment right now." She sprang up from the couch and went to get her phone.
A few minutes later, she strolled back into the living room.
"All set?" Clint asked.
"Yep. Tomorrow at nine am." Natasha said.
"Am? It has to be that early?" Clint groaned.
"That's the only time available. Unless you want to wait a couple more days. Plus, nine isn't that early anyways!" Natasha smirked, then sat back down next to Clint.
"So... How are you?" Clint asked.
"Um, good. What do you mean?" Natasha asked.
"Like with the whole pregnancy thing. Not the baby, but... You're body's condition?" Clint asked.
Natasha raised her eyebrows. "Fine, I guess. No position is comfortable. Sometimes my breathing gets all weird. The baby moves and doesn't let me sleep. I have heartburn, I'm dizzy, I'm fat..." She stopped.
"Tasha. You're not fat." Clint said, stroking her hair.
"Are you sure? Look at my stomach." She said.
"That's the baby, Nat. Not you." Clint chuckled.
"I know..." Natasha said. "How am I going to go right back to fighting after I have a baby? Crap. That'll be in only three and a half months!" She realized.
"You'll be fine. I'll help. It won't be that hard. I mean, you're the Black Widow." Clint smiled at her.
The next day, they were waiting in the hospital to find out the gender of the baby. The doctor came in, smiled, started to take the test, and said...
"It's a..."
