Chapter 1:Heartbroken

I groaned as I rolled out of bed to the sound of my alarm blaring its annoying sound.

The screen said in big, bold, red letters that it was 6:59.

Normally I wake up earlier so I have time to get ready for school and make the Reeds' breakfast but today they were gone on a business trip so I got to sleep in a little.

Of course I had to get ready in a couple of minutes so I wouldn't be late for my job; at 8:00 I go to the Rise and Dine dinner a couple blocks away from here to work as a waitress. My shift lasts an hour so I'm usually late to school. Even though the dinner's name is partially cheery the only people that went there were people that hated their parents. Don't know why but the place really gave off that 'hate' type of feel. When I first got the job I thought that not a lot of people would be there. Boy was I wrong, we serve over a hundred people every day. Kinda sad really.

Once the bright numbers on the clock changed to say 7:13, I sprang of the couch that I placed beside my loft bed (so that when I fell off my bed in the mornings I wasn't hurt) and ran into my bathroom, taking a really quick shower while also trying to make sure I wasn't stinky.

By the time my alarm clock said 7:51, I was dressed in black jeans, a navy blue graphic t-shirt, black combat boots, and a black leather jacket.

Five minutes later, I was strapping on my helmet and racing to work on what I call a motorcycle but what my coworkers call 'the trap of death'.

I had grabbed an apple before I left. Before I went downstairs I had already slung on my old messenger bag that had my school supplies, phone, earbuds, and other random junk such as gum, tissues, candy, and my uniform for my second job that I go to after school. Well, I call it after school but the teachers call it "skipping school" because I sneak out at 3:20.

I arrived at the Rise and Dine and hopped off of my bike. I was greeted by Cassidy, one of my best friends. Cassidy worked with me here even though she doesn't hate her parents. The only reason she even got this job was because the manager likes her and when I say likes her I mean he's in love with her. Like seriously, yesterday he bought her flowers, chocolate, and a 3' teddy bear. I've been working at this dinner for three years, Cassidy's been working her for 2 months, and never once has he even bought me a card.

Of course, his crush on Cassidy is hopeless for two reasons. One, Cassidy's not into dudes. Two, she's already got a girlfriend. But, Mark-the manager-doesn't know that.

"Hey girl,"Cassidy smiled, bumping her hip into mine.

She looked at me closely; every time I see one of my friends they check to see if I'm wearing makeup, and if I'm not they'll pull me into a bathroom and put makeup on me.

When she realizes I'm not wearing makeup-I forgot in my haste to get out of my house this morning-she pulled a tube of mascara and a bottle of eyeliner out of her purse and applied mascara to my eyelashes and eyeliner around my eyes.

Work was the only place that I actually felt like I could take a break from being a bad girl and be my normal self-sarcastic, funny, and somewhat close to happy. But my mood dampened a little when Cassidy put makeup on me; I hate makeup.

Cassidy and I didn't have to wear uniforms because we were Mark's favorites and got off easy but Cassidy still wore hers. Mark was happy about that because it meant he got to see her perfect cheerleader body. The small white tank top and red and black checkerboard mini skirt did nothing to hide Cassidy's curves.

"Hey sista!"a familiar female voice called to us when we stepped through the doorway.

I looked up from my phone to see Cassidy's girlfriend, Daniela, running towards us.
