A/N- Ahhh!! Finally finished! I tried to keep it under 2000 words but I went 73 words over my limit :') Well anyway- Hope this doesn't disappoint! xD
Your POV
Since your meeting with Spectra and the whole 'stage' thing with Masquerade, nothing really interesting worth remembering happened. The gray, orange, and blue cat's image was still fresh in your mind though, which was quite strange. You were laying down in the same old cotton bed that you woke up in, lost in your thoughts and bored since you had no other things to do. Then a thought hit you... 'Can't I just escape this place??'... You looked out of the small cracked window near the bed.
The sky was just as dull as always, clouds were littered everywhere... 'Why the heck is it always cloudy...?' Nobody seemed to know the answer. ..The forest was still dancing in the small breeze that seemed to be present. The clearing's flowers were weeping with rain drops, only slightly moving with the wind. Everything just looked gloomy with little color, everything just looked at peace. Peaceful and free...
You slowly rose up from the old cotton bed, gaze fixed on the cracked window. Should you risk it and jump through? Or should you just make your presence known and go through the big doors of the theater?
You padded slowly toward the window, making sure the floorboards didn't creak. Slowly, your paw touched the dusty windowsill and you examined the cracked window. There were no hinges to open it, just glass and wooden walls... You would have to break the already cracked window...
Sighing, you slowly stepped away...
Then, without controlling your movements...
You ran and jump through the window, making a loud shattering sound...
Glass flew everywhere, and some even went into your (F/C) pelt causing gaping wounds. Your (E/C) eyes were closed when you jumped, the glass only made scratches around your eyes. It felt like time had slowed down before you hit the ground... nonetheless, the experience was already thrilling enough.
Your sorta bloody paws hit the ground, and you opened your eyes. Only little splotches of blood clouded your vision as you observed your surroundings. Glass was scattered around on the cold wet grass, and blood was only on a few shards. You lifted one of your paws and stepped forward, trying to not loose balance. Soon enough, your fast walk broke into a sprint towards the free forest...
Then something interesting happened...
The wind was felt through your whiskers as you sprinted towards the forest, the forest didn't seem that far, but there was no doubt that it was. Towards the edge of the clearing, you ran into something, causing you to fall.
You slowly opened your eyes and looked ahead... Nothing was there... You got up and lifted a bloody paw, making it reach out. It touched something... invisible, a barrier. The barrier was causing you to not escape into the free world. Your face had a look of surprise, surely you were not expecting a barrier or some kind, let alone an invisible one. Though you could remember the barrier not being there at all when you discovered the theater.
Your gaze adverted back to the direction of the worn down theater. You sighed and started walking in the direction, but then you stopped to be face to face with the one and only, Masquerade... Oh great. Masquerade's gaze was coldly glaring at your bloody pelt. "So, where've you been?" Their voice was laced with poison, but you knew that they knew where you were... or well, TRYING to get to somewhere.
You just stared at them, trying not to let fear take over. Masquerade's gaze was burning into your bloodstained fur, causing shivers down your spine. Then Masquerade gave a sigh and turned around, motioning you to follow them back to the theater. "Hey Masquerade?" You questioned, catching up to them. Masquerade nodded, causing you to continue, "Why is there a barrier? What is that barrier for, anyway??" You gave almost a million questions before Masquerade turned to look at you while still walking.
