In the year 2035 World War III broke out. America and Russia had been struggling for control of power for years and many small conflicts between the two countries had erupted, usually fought by their allies. While the US relied on their heavy firearms and military power, the Russians were trying to create a more tactical weapon, something that would create a significant tilt in balance to the Russian side with as little military effort as possible.

In November of 2035 that weapon was created, tried, tested and found successful. 'Viper Water', a clear, tasteless additive, like the snake itself, slithered it's slimy body through the metal pipes of American civilians homes, contaminating the water on the tongues of women, children and men alike, the rich and the poor, no-one was left untouched. The country panicked, sending it into a downward spiralling epidemic. Hospitals overflowed like backpacker hostels in the summer break. The government could never figure out how the Russians had managed to pass the 'Viper Water' into their entire countries water system. It was originally designed to only cause sickness but the Russians underestimated its power. So many people were dying and I'll that America's only defence were their allies. Panicked and confused countries sent out troops to Europe and America, effectively annihilating entire continents when things got out of hand.

The war was known as 'The End's War' for a reason. Neither side won, Europe, America and small sections of Asia were destroyed, millions of people died almost entirely wiping out our entire civilisation. It was nearly the end of everything.

The untouched areas of Asia and the continents of Australia and New Zealand banded together to slowly rebuild everything that had been destroyed, they created small civilisations, known as Pods. Slowly civilians, especially any survivors, were introduced into these rebuilt areas. Each Pod was kept separate from the other each with a new government planned and controlled by those in the governments of Australia, New Zealand & Asia, collectively known as 'The Oceanic Region", designed to keep peace and to stop another World War from ever breaking out again. It was designed to create 'perfect societies'.

There is not much taught in schools about the old ways before the End's War or even about the other Pods or the current Oceanic Region. All we are told is that the old ways are bad, the new ways are good, we are Pod 53 and our government is called The Square and those in the Oceanic Region stay there and don't interfere with our lives, likewise we don't interfere with the lives of those in the Oceanic Region or in other Pods.

It's simple, we follow the rules and everything is perfect and harmonious. But is perfect always right?

Wow, long time since I've written anything...
Thought I'd give it a try, probably going to take down Rosalie and start fresh AKA no fan fictions (soz not soz)
