You see, A lot of people think Norweigan Wood is about John trying to keep an affair hidden from Cynthia, which in a way, was true.
Except not with any woman, but with Paul.
John had fucked up, big time, shagged a bird and sent her on her way. But only one name went through his head when he realized what he'd done. And no, it wasn't Cynthia..It was Paul.
He and Paul had had a relationship practically since they met, Cyn had originally been a cover up...but as the future would hold, she'd end up pregnant with John's child, forcing him to marry her.
Paul had been devastated then, and now if he found out about /THIS/...John was in for it.
That's when he broke down.
Suddenly guitar chords and lyrics started flying through his head and he promptly felt like making a song out of his feelings. A song that would extremely lowkey express what had happened and how he wanted revenge, to burn her house down.
Luckily, even when he was asked to help with the song, Paul hadn't put the pieces together on what it was really about..or even that it was basically a true story!
That was one of the only times John Winston Lennon thanked god.Paul McCartney loved John Lennon, and John Lennon loved Paul McCartney, but there were often times the two would get into quarrels, even about the stupidest things. The two men also had a pact, no making love to anyone but each other...unless it was necessary for John to do with Cynthia.
That's the pact John had broken when he wrote Norweigan Wood...the pact that had meant so much to he and his beautiful boy.
The song was written straight from John's emotions, while he was wishing he could undo what had happened. You best believe after that song was written, the pact was never broken again.
