We have to have spent at least seven months trying to get me to safely invade hid mind. As much as I want to prove myself, I want to make sure I don't accidentally hurt him more. Michael is getting frustrated with me, he knows I am not really trying my best but it's not like I am going to tell him why I am so stubbornly avoiding success.

"Why don't you want to do this right Jessie?" Crap. How many more excuses can I make up?

"Because I don't. I can't do it, it just feels wrong."

"It's not wrong. I am giving you complete permission. I want for you to be able to hear what I am thinking-I mean, what they are thinking. It is not like you are sneaking around inside my brain-I know when you use Angel magic, remember? If you get in I can help you through the rest. But I promise I won't do that unless you want me to. I know you can do this on your own." He tells me kindly after seeing my automatic anger at his doubt-but he doesn't doubt me. I doubt me. "You can do it." He urges me. I take a deep breath and go through the steps just like he has told me a thousand times today. Deep breath, close eyes, mentally picture a wall, mentally paint Micheal's face on the wall, wipe away the face and slowly walk through the wall.

I get through and see all of these glowing balls of light. hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of little glowing orbs. I hear his voice garbled like I am underwater but it is clear enough that I understand I should pick one up and focus on it. One floats towards me, I take that as a sign that he wants me to look at it. I hear his voice encourage me to choose one. I walk forward eliminating the remaining distance between me and the glowing orb that is still floating slowly but surely towards me. Once it is within arm's each I carefully pick it us. it rolls around in my hand but it stills eventually and look directly at the ball ignoring the blinding brightness. I stare at it and a brightness flashes surrounding me and I blink before watching a scene play out before me. As I watch I am stunned, he couldn't possibly have wanted me to see this, it's him and some girl in that in-between place we were stuck in earlier. The more I watch the more uncomfortable and angry despite my efforts to remain calm and detached. Finally the scene ends with the girl being roughly dragged out of the room by some angel, I can't tell who it is for sure but I have my suspicions. Michael cloaks himself and whoever the pother angel is never even notices he is there, Michael trails the other angel practically stepping on his heels and as if a magic door is opened, they both disappear. The scene goes white and I am once again surrounded by the glowing orbs. I try to remember how he said to get out of this place but the scene I just witnessed has me completely scattered. I take several deep breaths to calm myself down and try doing the opposite of what I did to get in. I walk backwards through the wall, I rebuild the wall, I repaint his face and open my eyes hoping to see Michael. I can't believe he would try to make me see something like that! The relief I feel is overwhelming when I find myself upright looking into the eyes of a absolutely beaming Michael. He suddenly picks me up and spins me around in a bear hug. I usually would be beyond happy but right now I am incredibly mad at him.

"You did it!" He exclaims as if I had just brought someone back from the dead.

"Why would you do that?" I demand after he has set me down. I curse myself for the twinge of disappointment I feel when he sets me down. "Why would you make me do that? Make me see that?"

"You're mad?" He seems honestly confused.

"Yes I'm mad! I know I said earlier that I wanted to know, but just telling me with words would have worked just fine."

"What do you mean?" Why is he doing this!

"You shoved some glowing ball of light at me and it was like a movie of some girl with you in that place we were earlier and she was dragged out of their half dead! How could you do that?" His face is one of absolute shock.

"What...how did you see that?"

"I did what you said. You said pick one of the lights and focus on it and you pushed that one at me and it was..." I inhale deeply trying to calm myself down. "Of everything you could have pushed over towards me, you choose that?"

"I didn't. I don't hide many things from you, I try to be completely honest, but I have avoided acknowledging that day for-" He stutters- "For a really long time. I have that one locked away so that I don't have to relive it. You really are something amazing." He says in awe. I am so confused.

"Then why did you push that memory to me?"

"I didn't push anything to you. I figured you would just pick a random one and I didn't want to interfere. I never reamed you could attract stuff like that." He is really struggling to speak coherently and I slowly understand.

"So I...pulled that memory out of the darkest deepest depths of your brain by accident?"

"No. Not on accident. You didn't do it consciously, but your subconscious called it. I don't know many who can do that. And on your first diligent try. Why were you so stubborn before? You obviously have exceptional talent and knew how to do it. I don't." he stops mid sentence and I feel a slight push on my forehead. "Oh really?" My face turns bright red.

"Whah what are you talking about?" I stutter.

"Oh nothing. I get it now." He is grinning like an evil mastermind who just robbed a child of a lifetime supply of cotton candy.

"You-you...did you just?" I ask him. He smirks. "What did you see?" I ask. maybe it's some sort of crazy trick.

"Ah ah ah. I'm not telling. You're gonna have to go first. In actual normal words." I am mortified my face-heck all of my skin must be fire truck red.

"I have no idea what you are talking about." I try to lie smoothly-it's not as smooth. at all.

"Alright. Don't say you never had the chance to speak up. But you are clearly exceptional at mind reading. I believe Magnus will be ready soon." He tells me and I notice for the first time that there isn't even a hint of sunset left.

"Yeah. Let's get going back." I say and turn to leave. I planned on letting him just follow behind me, but he has other plans that involve him right there beside me on the arrow side walk. The narrow side walk that I already know will not widen again before it leads me to Magnus's house.

Well this was interesting. I thought that I could write this with only platonic love, but Ari ships Jessie and Michael too much for me to ignore. So...do you ship it??
