CHAPTER ONE - THINGS ARE CHANGING.
"No. You CAN NOT do this to me!"Tylah Jane wilson screamed at her father and stepmother. Tylah wasnt a terribley spoiled girl, but she did like to get her own way, and at the moment, she wasnt.
"listen Tylah, you should learn to obey me and my wishes, stop being a cow, and stop yelling for gods sake!"
exclaimed her step mother of two years, Mary-Anne.
In Tylahs opinion, Mary-Anne was a manipulative, self-obsessed, gold-digger, hoe of a person, the same as any other woman her father brought home. And now Mary-Anne was ruining her life. That may have been a bit dramatic, but in Tylahs opinion that was just the tip of the ice burg. Tylahs father, Daniel Craig Wilson, seemed to have a certain type, bleach blonde, blue eyed, skinny waisted- and way too young for him. In this case, Mary-anne was twenty six, fourteen years younger than Daniel, and only ten years older than Tylah. That wasnt the only thing Tylah hated in her life. Something else she had a passion of hatred for went by the name of Alex.
Alex James Wilson.
But Tylah had long ago swore to herself that she would never speak about Alex again, or even think about him. He was in the past now- and what was in the past, should stay in the past, she thought. But something, or rather someone, who was not in the past, atleast not yet, she still had to deal with. Mary-Anne.
"We are not going anywhere. NOWHERE. N. O. W. H. -" Tylah had started yelling again, but was soon cut off by her stepmother.
"LISTEN here missy, Paul was very nice to offer me that place to rent for my shop, and-" this time is was tylah who did the cutting off.
"He was very nice? don't you mean you SCREWED him to get that place?" Tylah was getting very wound up, as was Mary-Anne. Meanwhile, Tylah's father was simply sitting on his favourite brown leather chair, watching the argument unfold. He did not wish to get involved, as he knew these two women were not ones to be messed with, and their anger wasn't the only similarity between the two. They had so much in common, but they just couldn't see that. That was the main reason he had wed Mary-Anne the previous spring, he thought that she could be a somewhat replacement for Tylahs mother. Oh, how he missed his dear Poppy.
"How dare you say that! Daniel, aren't you going to do anything?" Mary-Anne complained, in a whining voice Tylah imagined should only come out of a child's mouth when they weren't getting their own way. Daniel sighed, then stood up out of his chair.
"Tylah, could you come with me into the kitchen? please." Daniel pleaded in the kindest voice he could muster up, as he did not want to start an argument with his daughter. Tylah looked at her father, and then looked back at Mary-Anne, and silently followed her father out of their expensively furnished living room, and into the large kitchen. She propped herself up onto the cold marble benchtop, and looked at her father, notioning him to talk.
"Listen, Tylah, i know you don't want to move, but Mary-Anne really wants this. She want's a chance of feeling independent, you know, to run her own jewellry shop, and earn money for herself for once. And I bet you will love Manhattan, and I have already found the perfect house, it's really big- bigger than this one, and it's right next to the beach and-"
"Dad, you know why i don't want to move." Tylah interupted, bearly a whisper.
"I know you don't want to leave your mother, and neither do I, but i think it will be good to have a fresh start. Especially after what happened with Alex and all... but we would still be able to visit your mother. Every month. I promise."
"Don't talk about him. I don't want you to talk about Alex. Or Mum. And I do not want to move. Period." Tylah insisted.
"Tylah, please. What if we just stay there for a month? And if we don't like it, we'll come back. I swear. Just one month." Daniel was trying desperately to get her to agree to going.
"One month?" This didn't seem too bad, if it were only for one month, Tylah thought.
"Yes. I won't even sell the house. Just give it a go. Please, for me?" Tylah thought about this. It couldn't be the end of the world, it would be alright. They would stay for one month, and she would make them come back.
"Well... okay. One month."
