"You look so stupid, with my bestfriend. And she ain't no better than you, she's a three, I'm a ten!"

~Ke$hia Cole~

Destiny Darrell was going to be late. She knew she would have been. Her sister wasn't reliable and she knew that too.

Her sister, Shanna, had promised to pick up her daughter from her house at 3:00 to give her the time to get ready and be at her interview by 4:15. It was well into 3 now and she was nowhere to be found.

This interview was so important to her that she had been tempted to leave her niece, Cassandra, at the next door neighbors.

But her niece was just too adorable. With her dark brown skin and heart shape face, her little kinky curls and crooked toothy smile, she had been unable to. The little devil knew her charms and had no beef against using it.

She was getting angrier though, watching the clock tick by knowing this opportunity was ticking away with it too.

When Shanna showed up though, almost 30 minutes later, at her house, with an angry red handprint on her right cheek all thoughts of the interview vanished.

She just embraced her sisters thinning frame and invited her in. She fetched a box of tissue and a box of vanilla and strawberry ice cream and silently offered it to her.

Her refrigerated was filled with ice creams in all different flavors due to her sister. She wasn't surprised...she stopped being surprised after the 7th time her sister shower up to her house with bruises.

She didn't understand how her sister could put up with DaeShawn. He abused her and mistreated her, and still she came back to him.

She claimed it to be because he was the father of her her child but Destiny knew better. She loved him...the former him. The one that used to hold doors for her and send her flowers.

Time change people though, and DaeShawn had certainly changed.

Now he slammed doors in her face instead and threw flower vases at her.

And still Shanna loved him. She couldn't get passed the man he used to be.

Destiny quickly called and cancel her interview, claiming it to be a family emergency. She asked for another one but the secretary politely explained that her canceling, showed her boss that she would not be thoroughly committed to this job and that she was sorry to have to decline her request.

Destiny understood her though. Even though her interview had been with one of the biggest companies in California, she would get over it.

Family came first, always. This time would be no different .

Destiny handed Cassie a pair of headphones and her apple tablet and sent her to her room. She knew what would come next, and she knew they would not be for Cassie's ears.

Finally, she sat down next to her sister and immediately Shanna curled up around her and sobbed.

Destiny said nothing. What where there to be said. She had stated her opinion on their 'relationships' countless of times.

This time though, she noticed that Shanna seemed more sad then mad. Usually she's all fired up.

Secretly, Destiny hoped that maybe she's had enough. Maybe she's considering leaving him for good.

She wondered what could have happen this time. She didn't wanna ask. She never had to. Shanna always told her, even before she step foot in the house. She pondered at the curiosity until it got the best of her.

"Wanna talk about it?" Destiny whispered slightly against her sisters ears.

Shanna sobbed louder. "It's over. It's over for good this time." Destiny frowned slightly, confused as to why she was crying. This was wonderful news!!

"Then why are you crying" Destiny's faced was consorted in thoughts. It made no sense. She should've been then happiest man well, woman on earth.

Shanna signed in frustration. She was happy, but she was empty now. She could never trust a man again. Destiny always said she over think and she knew she was doing it now.

But she was an empty shell that could never be filled. You could never really fix a broken glass and her heart was more than shattered.

And the way it had been shattered. DaeShawn hadn't been loyal in a long time. But cheating on her with her bestfriend had been the final straw.

She just could not fathom what changed over the course of their relationship. She blew her nose.

"He cheated on me Des. And yes, I know , I know. He always cheat. But it was with Sierra this time and I couldn't... Not anymore " Destiny's heart clenched for her sister. Sierra had been Shanna's bestfriend since the 3rd grade. Shanna was now 28.

Destiny pulled Chandra tighter against her, her head resting on her breast the way momma used to do to her when she was younger.

"I walked in the house and all I heard was moans and groans. You know what they say; Curiosity kills the cat, or in this case my heart." Shanna's laughed a wry and humorless.

"So I peeked in the room, and I think they thought my queen bed was a California King bed or some shit. Des I was so angry. I dragged sierra out and then he, he had the galls to ask her to wait up. He said she wasn't going anywhere until she squeezed him dry. Right in front of my face. " Shan shook her head in shame

" I was so furious I punched him in his nose. He started bleeding and smacked me. Then he drove away, and he never looked back. Not even once" Shan sniffed and pulled her legs up to her chest. "Can you get me a glass of water please?" Shanna whispered.

Destiny left and got a glass of water. On her way back, she examined her sister. She look so old. So much older than 28.

There were bags under her eyes, various blue bruises showed on her skin. She had gotten so skinny in the past years, her curves had slowly decapitated.

That was gonna change she decided. Shanna would come live with her and she was going to take care of her.

She handed Shanna the cup of water. Shanna lifted the cup to her lips but before she could sip it, her phone rang.

"Hello? Yes, this is she. Are you positive? OK." Shanna turned her phone and looked at something on it and then the cup dropped. She let out a strangled cry and then she fainted.

Destiny hurriedly grab the phone that was now too falling and look at it.

DaeShawn and sierra, or better yet, what was left of them.

Author's Notes.

Hey, thanks for giving this book a chance. I hope you like it.

If you do, don't forget to vote and comment.

Also, this book is not about Chandra if you're wondering. But this is not one of those books that's just like BOOM BOOM BOOM! And then you're done.

Its gonna go slow into the actual theme.

Also, the man character in the book, Destiny, is African American.

She's 26, if you can find a good character to play her, please comment.

Side note: I really don't undertand why girls let a an that's cheated on them back into their lives. I get that you may love them, but if they really loved you back, their eyes would never stray away. So girls, my advice to you: Know your worth, and trust and believe me, its a lot.
Until next time.
