I sit on the ground, my skirt fanning out around my body. ''You've missed three years of my life and let me think you were dead. You better start talking. Now,'' I say harshly.
He sat down in front of me. ''I'm sorry, Alaska. In all honesty, I didn't know you were still alive until about a week ago when I ran into Glenn on a run. You don't know how happy I was when he told me. I cried and cried. He told me he'd get us together, and he did. I know it's not the best time, but-''
''Don't worry about timing. You probably could not have come at a better time,'' I cut him off. ''But where did you go after you left the Governor?'' I ask, running a hand through my hair.
''I just went around with different people,'' he said simply with a small shrug. I nodded before standing up. He stood up as well.
''Come on, I want to introduce you to someone,'' I brushing off my skirt.
''Good. So do I.''
''Me first,'' I grin, walking away from the area, knowing he was following me. I keep walking until I am behind Carl, seeing him and Rick talking. I lean over the back of his chair and kiss his cheek before spinning his chair around. ''Uncle Merle, this is Carl. Carl, Uncle Merle. You two have met before,'' I say. Carl stuck his hand out, and my uncle shook it.
''Good to see you again, Carl. My brother did that to you didn't he?'' he asked, referring to his state of being in a wheel chair. Carl nodded. ''I'm sorry, kid. Don't worry, now that I'm technically Alaska's legal guardian, you don't have to worry about any of that over protective dad bull shit or anything,'' he said with his infamous grin.
''Thank you, sir,'' Carl said. Looks like he actually remembered his manners from before everything.
''Please, kid. Call me anything - anything - but sir. You can call me Merle, Uncle, Dad, Daryl, or even cupcake or sugar tits if you wanted to. Just not sir. It reminds me how old I actually am,'' he joked with a smile. Carl smiled slightly as well.
''Uncle Merle, you said you wanted to introduce me to someone?'' I say. He nodded.
''Come here,'' he said, gesturing for us to follow him. I push Carl's wheel chair after my uncle.
He lead me and Carl to a young (ish) looking woman and two boys; one who looked to be me and Carl's age, and one who was probably about eleven years old.
''Carl, Alaska, this is Jessie and her kids, Ron and Sam.'' He motioned to the boys as he said their names.
''Nice to meet you guys,'' I say to the three people. I lean up to my uncle's ear.
''Is she your...?'' I say quietly enough for only him to hear.
''Wife? No, not yet. She's just my girlfriend,'' he said with a devilish grin and a wink in her direction. Jessie smiled slightly as he said that, kissing his cheek.
''Ron is about your guys' age; Sam's just a few years younger than you,'' my uncle said, switching the subject. ''You guys should probably get to know each other before you just come in and live with them,'' he added.
I blink a few times, quickly in a row.
''Live with you?''
''Yeah, we live in a nice little community with electricity and water. Glenn and Rick moved everyone in there a few days ago, while you guys were still hiding away.'' He said the last part in a teasing tone.
I glance over at Rick before turning back to the group. ''How many people live there?'' I ask.
''Around fifty people, if not less,'' Jessie answered for him. I nod, looking down at Carl.
''I don't see a problem with it, '' I say after a minute or so of thinking. My uncle smiled.
''Great. You and Carl can stay with us. Everyone else has a house beside us.''
''What about Judith?'' Carl asked.
''Who's Judith?'' my Uncle Merle asked.
''His little sister, but we're practically her parents since her mom died and Rick's always busy keeping everyone alive,'' I explain. He nodded, turning to Jessie.
''What do you think, Jess?'' he asked her.
She shrugged. ''As long as they're the one's taking care of her and being responsible for her, I'm fine with it,'' she smiled. I looked over at Carl, who smiled as a look of relief washed over him.
''Good. Hershel and Beth will take you guys back to where you were staying to get some stuff before taking you over to Alexandria. We'll be waiting at the gates to give you a tour of the place.
I smile slightly. ''See you guys soon then,'' I said before watching my uncle walk away with his new girlfriend, and who might end up being his step children sooner or later.
