Prologue
Two of us were sent to Earth. Only I made it. The other one's missing and I have a death sentence. They gave me 72 hours, but my time was up.
"Do you admit to your faults, and to the murder of Hila Santgo, fellow ex Protettore?" The executioner asks.
I do nothing. Just stare into his soulless eyes.
He rattles the chains holding me up and they press into my throat. "Do you admit to your faults?"
"Never," I wheeze.
"Ha, a noble one. I'm glad I'm the one to kill you."
The executioner takes his scythe and cuts the chains holding me up above the 50 foot drop.
When I fall, I don't feel sadness. I'm numb. I refuse to show emotion when I'm the innocent one in this accused crime. Instead I just fall to the ground. To my death.
