Wonderland Below The Ashes

Chapter 1- Burning Sensation

Alice woke, feeling grass beneath her hands and a something burning on half of her face. It felt distant but she could hear the flames crackling and smell smoke. Groaning, she sat up and felt pain shoot through her left leg. She screamed at the terrible pain and realised that her leg was burnt.
Then she heard something. Someone was... screaming. She reconised the voice but there was two people screaming.
Realising the burning smell, she turned to the direction of the fire. It was her house! She limped over and saw two silhouettes in a window on the top floor.
'No it cant be...' she thought. It was her parents. She screamed and sobbed at the same time until the screaming from her dearly beloved parents stopped. Were they dead?
She stood there, blank expression on her face, waiting for nothing in particular.
Alice felt arms wrap around her waist. She yelled to the top of her lungs amd turned to see two men dressed in white with masks on. What was happening?!
She was thrown into the back of a van. It was dark with only a light flickering on the roof.
Still blind with worry and terror, Alice realised that she was in a van. She felt the engine start up.
She fell asleep from all that pain and danger. She had no sleep and had bags under her eyes. Feeling the engine purr, it sounded like a lullaby, luring her towards sleep.

(2 hours later)

Alice awoke when she heard a bang. She just remembered everything that has happened and started sobbing quietly but she wanted to be strong. She held back her tears and put on a brave face.
The doors of the van that Alice went in swung open violently. The same two men who has kidnapped her took her towards a white building which looked 4 storeys high. Thunder went off in the background and Alice could clearly read 'Marys Mental Asylum, home of the insane'.
"No, no please! Don't take me in there! I'm not insane, please!" Alice begged but there was no reply. "What have i done?!" She fussed and struggled but the two men kept her pinned and kept her walking.
"Do you admit that you have come up with stories about you going to a place called... what was it again? Shubbleworld? Muckerland? Oh yeah, wonderland and say that it is all true?" One of the men spat at her. This hurt her deeply. Who would send a 12 year old to an asylum? Whos cold hearted enough to do that?!
"Yes i do admit but it is all true! Why does no one believe me?!" She said innocently as she stepped into the building.
"Because no one talks about having tea with the mad hatter, escaping a queen before getting beheaded or going down a rabbit hole!" The other guard glared at her with evil brown eyes from behind the mask.
The men went up to the reception and the woman asks for Alices name. When the men answered, the womans smiling face drooped and said "set her up for room 4 and get ready for the ward."
Alice has no idea what was going on. The men once again dragged her all the way throught the corridor until they got to a door labelled room 4. The men pushed her in there and she skid across the floor and her legs was scraped. She cursed her left leg and regretted this whole moment.
She couldn't take this. They tortured her, abused her and put her life to the very edge of death. She didn't know why she had to be tortured but she asked once and they replied to her in a harsh tone "we have to get these memories of the fire out of your head and get that nonsense shut up!"
She tried so hard to forget but it never worked. At night she would cry herself to sleep and she always remembered her mother, father and sister.
