Chapter 1 : The first day
~Christian
“Oh sweetie, you’re growing up too fast. Why couldn’t you just stay the cute 10 year old boy you used to be? You were my little baby and now you’re all grown up! Year 11 already and I can still remember your first day at high school.” She got teary eyed and I could see her pulling tissues out of her pocket.
“Mum! It’s only my first day at a new school! you don’t have to give me your whole ‘my little baby’ speech. Besides, can you stop crying please? You’re embarrassing me a little” I replied, a little agitated. The thing with my mother is that she wants to document every day of my life whether it’s my first day back at school or my last day. I could see people walking past the car and beginning to stare aswell which made me all more determined to get out of this car while I could. I gave my mum a quick peck on her cheek before rushing out of the car as quick as I could and slamming the door behind me. My mum mumbled a teary ‘Goodbye’ and drove off, still sobbing.
I spun on my heels and looked at the school gates. The sign on them read ‘St Julian’s High School’ in pristine white paint which was odd because the rest of the school seemed so drab from the outside. I made my way towards the school and could hear mumbles of ‘Is that the new boy?’ and ‘Finally, fresh meat’. I ignored them and carried on toward the brick building. The bell rung and all the students made their way to registration. I was new here so I walked around in the hope I might find an office of some sort. I walked into a big foyer painted in a pale blue colour the same as the school uniform.
“Hi, I’m new here and I was just wondering if you could help me find my first lesson?” I muttered
“Name please?” the receptionist asked.
“Christian. Christian Everett” Her head shot up and her jaw was wide open. She stood up from her chair and walked from behind her desk towards me.
“R-r-right this way, Christian” She stuttered.
“I take it you’ve read my file then haven’t you miss…?”
“Miss Morgan. And yes I had a quick glance” she grunted. I could tell she was lying because she was looking really nervous. Her hair was black and greasy, combed back into a ponytail. I followed her for about a minute until a boy a bit taller than me walked past us.
“Uh Tyler?” Miss Morgan said “Can you take this boy to your registration please? He is in the same class as you. Make sure you’re nice to him aswell Tyler” She stammered out before scurrying back to her office. I could sense she was scared of me and she definitely didn’t like being in my presence.
“Right this way” the boy muttered casually.
~Tyler
I was just walking down the hall minding my own business on my way to registration when all of a sudden, a god-like boy was walking down towards me with Miss Morgan.
“Uh Tyler?” She asked. Oh no, I could see where this was going. “Can you take this boy to your registration please? He is in the same class as you. Make sure you’re nice to him aswell, Tyler” She added before scampering off.
“Right this way” I muttered a bit too casually. I tried to walk in front of him so I could avoid staring at this god-like boy. In the end I had to give in and talk to him.
“So, how come you moved here?” I asked, slowing down my pace so he could catch up with me.
“I got kicked out of my last school” He replied awkwardly. I almost fainted when I heard those words. Hot, a bad boy and he doesn’t even seem like a typical ass-hole of a boy. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy in my opinion, despite getting kicked out of his last school.
“How come you were kicked out?” I asked, waiting for an answer.
“I got into the wrong crowd and did something that I regret a lot. Anyway, can we change the subject please? I don’t want to talk about it.” Came his reply.
“Sure. I don’t know how it worked in your school but in this school you have to go to registration first thing in the morning every day for half an hour. Oh, and just call I ‘Form’ and not registration or people will think you’re a nerd. Don’t ask why. You keeping up?”
“I guess. What’s our form like?” Everyone in there are idiots so just stick with me and you’ll be fine.
We arrived at the form and entered to be greeted by my form teacher asking me ‘Where have you been?’ and ‘Late on the first day? Disgraceful’.
“Miss? I was showing the new boy where our form was. His name is Christian Everett”. I replied smugly. She moved so she could see Christian stood in the doorway.
“Ah yes. Come on in Christian. My name is Miss Williams. Introduce yourself to the class.” He stepped sheepishly toward the front of the class and he went a bit red with embarrassment.
“Hi, my name’s Christian Everett, call me Chris or don’t call me anything. I’m 15 and my birthday is November 30th.” He sort of mumbled this but people just about heard him.
“Is that it?” Miss William’s asked. “No hobbies? Any interesting facts about yourself? She probed.
“I once drank a 2 litre bottle of coke in under 15 seconds.”
“Not quite the type of thing I was looking for but it’ll do. Tyler, go and sit in your seat from last year and Chris can sit in the spare seat next to you.”
As Chris trudged over past Miss William’s and towards me, she passed us both our time-tables for this year. I sat down and he followed. As he put his lesson plan down on the table, I took a quick look at it and scanned all his lessons.
“Ooh, We have most of the same lessons” I said enthusiastically.
“Great.” He replied, trying to sound enthusiastic but it came out a bit sarcastic. “Sorry.” He said “I didn’t mean to sound so rude, it’s just the new school and all. It’s stressing me out moving to a new school.”
“That’s fine” I replied. “This year is going to be fun” I said with a big grin on my face. He smiled back before turning to listen to what Miss William’s was saying.
