A/N: Hey guys! sorry for the late update :/ it took me a while to get the flow of events going and this is what I got. I don't like it very much but I hope you do. And please make sure you read the A/N at the end of the chapter :)

Evelyn! She thought suddenly. Evelyn would know what to do. She always does. A plan began forming in her head. She would ask Evelyn to go with her to the market and tell her about the thing on her shoulder on the way there. She was always the calm one in their relationship.

“Kaida are you awake? I need you downstairs”. Kaida heard her mum holler for her. She jumped a little before taking a deep, calming breath and replied,

“Yeah mum, I’ll be down in a minute.” Not hearing a reply, Kaida assumed that her mum had heard her. She repeated her routine yesterday and grabbed a tank top and loose fitting trousers from her bedroom floor before racing to her door. She stopped suddenly, her hand hovering the door handle. She grabbed a jacket from the chair beside her door and threw it on, remembering the strange mark on her shoulder.

Okay. Just act normal. No need to make mum suspicious. Kaida thought as she walked into the living room. The sight before her made her burst out laughing, the incident earlier disappearing from her head. Her mum whirled around and glared playfully at her daughter.

“This is not funny Kaida” she scolded, “now quiet down and look after these two while I get their lunch ready.”

Kaida stifled her laughter before nodding and walking over to Chesna and Gideon who were grinning like Cheshire cats and covered in feathers and macaroni. Her mum walked to the kitchen and yelled over her shoulder,

“And don’t forget to clean them up.” Kaida mock saluted behind her retreating back and whirled around to face the twins.

“What were you two doing?” she asked in an incredulous tone.

The twins began to giggle uncontrollably and Kaida saw that they weren’t close to stopping so instead of pursuing her answer she ushered them upstairs to get them cleaned up, the twins laughing all the way to their bedroom. She brushed off the macaroni and feathers off their clothes and out of their hair and proceeded to wipe their face with a wash cloth she grabbed on the way.

With the twins all clean, the trio traipsed down the stairs. They saw their mother at the bottom and the twins raced down and attacked her legs.

“Thank you, sweetheart. Why don’t you ask Evelyn to go with you to the market? That way you won’t be lonely.” Kaida suddenly remembered her plan at the mention of her best friend. She gave her mum a shaky smile before nodding.

“Great idea mum. I was already planning on asking her anyway.”

Her mum cast a questioning glance her way but Kaida brushed it off. She strode to the doorway and called out her goodbyes over her shoulder. She heard Gideon and Chesna yelling goodbye. She smiled and turned around waving before turning around on heel and walking towards the horse and wagon. She got on the wagon and whipped the reins, making the horse lurch forward. She travelled down the path she walked down the day before. Kaida tried to plan out what she was going to tell Evelyn but gave up as soon as she started. There’s no point she sighed.

She stopped the horse and wagon once she was outside the Dandridge house. She quickly got off and jogged up to the door, her heart racing s she knocked. Once, twice, three times before the door was flung open. Kaida was greeted with a very half naked Oscar Dandridge, Evelyn’s older brother. She immediately felt her face heat up and quickly averted her eyes.

“For goodness sake Oscar, put some bloody clothes on” she exclaimed.

Oscar smiled teasingly, “Why? C’mon Kai, normal girls would kill to be in your shoes.”
