6/30/11 5 years ago Jalynn is 12 "Jalynn," Zoe, my adoptive mom, paused, "you got accepted!" She squealed, squeezing me into a hug. She was way more excited about me getting accepted to Westland, probably because I wouldn't know anyone there, even though I only really know a few people at my school, well now old school, it's still going to be weird being the new kid again.
Last year I went to the public middle school here, but now I was starting 7th grade at a private school. "Yayy!" I shouted along with her.
I called my friend Sadie and asked her if I could come over and she said sure. So 5 minutes later we were sitting on her front porch swinging on the porch swing when I said, "I have bad news."
"What??" Sadie asked alarmed.
"I got accepted to Westland." I said cautiously.
"Noo! Pleasedon't leave me." She cried out hugging me.
"I would never leave you, I'm just going to a different school. And out of school we'll hang out." I said almost breaking into tears.
"Good idea." Sadie said sniffling. "In fact, why don't we go to Dairy Queen now!" She said, causing me to burst out laughing as I said yes.
We walked to Dairy Queen and sat there for a while talking about random things and eating our icecream.
Afterwards we went back to her house to go swimming. I stayed over her house for the night and in the morning once we woke up (well more like the afternoon) we played basketball then went shopping.
--- 8/31/11 When I got home Zoe said, "I have a surprise for you."
"What is it?" I asked.
"You'll see." She said.
We got in the car and she stopped at an animal shelter. "You, are picking out a dog." She said.
"Really?!?" I exclaimed.
"Yup." She chuckled. We walked in and went to look at the dogs. I saw a dog just laying there staring up at the door with so much intensity it almost looked like it was trying to make the lock open with magical staring abilities.
I looked on the tag on the cage and it said:
Name- Luna Breed- American Pit Bull Terrier Sex- Female Birthday- 6/2/08 Spayed My owner died of a heart attack leaving me without a family. I've been here since 1/23/11. I know how to sit, stay, speak, and keep treats on my head. I'm good with most dogs and cats.
"Did you find one you like yet?" Zoe asked me.
"Yeah, this one." I said pointing to Luna.
"Are you sure?" She asked. I nodded so the lady that had the keys opened the door. I slowly walked up to Luna and crouched in front of her putting my hand out. She stood up and stared at me. I reached my hand up to pet her and she stared curiously at me.
I pet her and said, "Yup, she's the one."
--- We took her home and I showed her where her bed, food, water, and toys were. I showed her the rest of the family and she got along perfectly with everyone.
Then I took her for a walk outside to get to know the property. We saw Blackjack outside and I looked over at Luna to see how she would react. She started wagging her tail and whining so I called him over.
He saw Luna and went up to her and started sniffing her butt. Blackjack walked with us as we walked around some more. I let Luna off the leash and she ran around a little before coming back to me.
I put back on her leash and took her down to the barn where the horses were in their stalls. She looked up at them and barked but they just ignored her. She barked again and this time Panther snorted at her, startling her.
Luna stood there a while longer not doing anything so I took off the leash. I walked off and called out for her to come. She did and followed me back the house where we played with her until it was time for bed.
9/17/11 Beginning of School Year Bree and Lizzy, identical twins that go to the school, gave me a tour of the school and gave me my schedule.

I was confused about what conference was so I asked them.
"Umm, it's like if you need help with schoolwork the teachers will help you." Bree explained.
"And you don't have to go to it or be there on time, it's just if you're confused about your homework or stuff in class and you can show up whenever between 2 and 4 and they'll still be there to help." Lizzy chimed in.
