Photo booth

I lay here in bed looking through our old pictures. I smile when I come across the photo booth print. I remember that day so well, it was my Sweet 16. Everything about that night was perfect. From the party, to the dress, all the way down to the complimentary hand soaps in the bathroom. Everyone was having fun.
I was chatting away with my aunt when Michael had come to pull me aside.
"Audrey you look absolutely stunning" he paused and scratched the back of his neck. I reached out and put my hand on his shoulder.
"Thank you Michael" I smiled "you clean up pretty well yourself"
"Well I'm here to impress" he winks and starts scratching the back of his neck again. It was a habit I had come to love. When he was nervous or so he would start scratching. It was cute. He would always turn red afterwards, and that's what happened that night.
"Michael" I chuckle "come on, let's get you out of your comfort zone" I pulled his arm and dragged him out to the dance floor. You could tell he was uncomfortable with the situation by the way he tensed up. But I wanted him to let loose. After a few failed attempts he still hadn't budge. I decided I would try to make him laugh. I did the famous 'groovy hitchhiker' move and the result was a small smile. I thought the opportunity was perfect. I started the 'giant guitar' move and that smile lasted longer than before. My final move was the 'grab and thrust', he couldn't control it anymore and grabbed onto my arm.
"Stop it, you're going to embarrass yourself" he chortled.
"The only person that's going to be embarrassed is you! This is a party. Have fun! Start dancing!"
He did it again. His arm started rising to scratch his neck, but I grabbed it before it had reached its destination.
"Here. Let's take some pictures in the photo booth. So we can remember this night" I turn to start walking in the direction of the booth.
"I don't need pictures to remember this night. If I'm with you, I'll definitely remember this forever"
A tear rolls down my cheek as I think about this memory. I press my fingers onto the picture strip. Riding down memory lane is a Roller Coaster, filled with highs and lows, tonight was a high point. Yet the memory still escaped my eyes and rode down my cheek.
