Many might say that male racehorses are better than female ones. They may say that purely based on what they experience going about their everyday life. Girls aren't as good as boys. Boys are stronger than girls, braver than girls, and faster than girls. To tell you the truth, I held those beliefs for a short time as well, until my life...the lives of all people across this great nation of America, were changed forever, just by one little filly. But by the end of this extraordinary story, she was not just one little filly; especially not to me. Nobody saw it coming; saw her coming. As you all know, Secretariat is considered one of, if not the, best racehorse to ever walk this earth. And who wouldn't? His feat of winning the "Super Bowl" of horse racing, the Kentucky Derby, at one minute and fifty-nine seconds, has not been surpassed. The feat that he completed, the one that is known by probably every person to have watched TV, is him winning the graveyard of speed horses, The Belmont Stakes, by thirty-one lengths. No horse has even come close to what he accomplished that day...until a so called "scrawny little bronze filly" came along to take on the boys, and boy did she. Up until the era of Hermes, only three fillies have won the Kentucky Derby, and none had won the Triple Crown. Her unbelievable passion, courage, and strength has showed people all across the world that anything is possible. Every single person that witnessed the history she made had never even thought that what she accomplished was possible. But she made them believe; believe that anything they dream of is possible. She changed me in ways that I didn't even know were possible. The history she made, the lives she changed and inspired, the legend she became, will live on until the end of time. She was an underdog that proved the doubters wrong. This was her game, and thanks to her, it will forever be known as the "Sport of Queens". Now, it's time for you to experience the history that was made not too long ago. Let me tell you the story that changed the definition of horse racing. Let me tell you her story, my story...the story of the miraculous Hermes.
