Piper
I always knew he was different, I remember when he was less than half a year old when he learned to walk a few weeks later he learned to talk. At age 2 he could do a 500 piece puzzle in a mater of minutes. He learned to read at age 3, the funny thing is his first book he read was The Odyssey by homer. Now he is 8 years old and has skipped 2nd grade so he is in 4th grade just like me. He could skip more grades but the teachers think he needs to be more social with the other kids.
"Piper get on your coat and shoes we need to go to a special place for Leo, you might like to bring your homework or a book." My mom yelled from downstairs interrupting my thinking.
"I'm coming." I shouted back
I grab my special homework( I do because everything is too easy so I make myself some) and a book called, The Son Of Neptune by Rick Riordan. I slip on some shoes and get a fleece since it is not tOo cold. I get into the car and buckle up, I lean over to do Leo's seat Belt because he does not like too do it himself.
"Mom where are we going?" I ask.
"We are going to a special place for Leo and you ." Replied my mom.
When we got to the as my mom called, "doctors office" a man named Dr. Badina cheeked us in and brought us to a waiting room. In the waiting room there was a DS, wii system, video games, and a bench for reading. This is the strangest waiting room because there is only 4 kids and 2 adults. I sit down on the bench and Leo goes over to something I didn't spot it looks like a computer, I walk over to Leo.
"Hay, what are you doing on that computer?" I asked my brother"Nothing, why?" Replied Leo.
"I just want to know but that's okay if you don't tell me." I explained to him.
Than a women's voice came over the loudspeaker, I saw a bunch of those kids that were on the DS and wii system shrieked and covered there ears. Even Leo covered his ears.
"Would Leo Valdez please come to the front desk."
"Leo and Piper come on we can go to the front desk,'' my mom said talking to Leo mostly because he was not even budging. We finally got Leo to get up and come with us to the front desk.
"Hi you must be Leo, Mrs. Valdez, and are you Piper Leo's sister?" Asked the doctor Dr. Badina.
We fallow the doctor into a special room with toys, blocks, puzzles, and a ton of other stuff. The plaque outside the door says, " IQ testing#45
"Doc what does that sign mean?" I ask with a pretend puzzled face. I am pretty sure they are testing my little brother for his IQ.
They take Leo in the room and close the door, I wonder if they are testing Leo for IQ.
"Mom, can I watch Leo's thing because I am studying autism tests"-
"What am I doing here" Leo explodes in a fit of anger
He starts trying to kick my mom and is squirming out of my poor moms grip.
"Let me deal with him I am quite used to this type of thing." Dr. Badina explains to my mom
The doc grips my brother with a firm grip but does not hurt Leo, he whispers something in Leo's ear but I can only hear some of it. Leo.... Oath.... Promise .... Come with.... And lastly calm.
"Okay, fine but only if you promise I will like it." Leo says back to the doc and follows him.
I wonder what's going on.
Leo
Look, I know I am different. I have always been and I guess now I except it, I skipped 2nd grade because I wanted to. I wanted more of a challenge but 3rd grade did not give me that. Than something new that my school was finally using excited me so much a literally yelled with excitement. My school was going to do MAP testing. My friend Peter does those tests at his school and says it is hard. I am so excited and giddy the first day of MAP testing, my sister was scared but I knew she would do pretty good because she is smart just not as smart as I am. The tests were a disappointment. They were too easy and just happened too see some of the stuff that a girl named Racheli did and I swear I almost started yelling the answers to her. Surprisingly she still got it wrong. Then I slipped,
