Sick of all these people talking

Sick of all this noise

She wasn't going to tolerate this anymore. Everyone thought the Morning Star was perfect - beautiful, smart, loved. 

Not as loved as the humans, though. The voices taunted.

Already choking on my pride

So there's no use crying about it

The Light Bringer couldn't love the humans more than God. She couldn't. 

The humans were the favourite now - it was obvious. They had everything they could possibly want - including free will.

You can make that change. The voices called. You don't have to stand for this!

She knew it was the Mark talking. 

Or was it?

It was getting harder and harder to tell the difference between the Mark's taunting and her own thoughts.

She had been so close. She had had an army behind her - granted, most Angels hadn't seen eye-to-eye with her, but some had. And that was all she had needed.

But it wasn't enough. She had been cast down. 

 You should've kept your pretty mouth shut, Morning Star. The voices hissed.

Now, locked in this infernal cage with only the whispers of demons and the voices in her head for comfort, she finally understood. 

If she could no longer be loved in Heaven, she would rule in Hell.
