Hermione was positively glowing the next day. Anyone with eyes could see it. And Ron, who naturally paid acute attention to her, saw this extremely clearly.

She walked into Astronomy late, for starters. Well, right on time, but being as she was normally several minutes early, that was late.

Her face was all... happy. Not that Hermione wasn't normally happy. Just today she looked really happy. Happy like Harry-playing-Quidditch happy, or Dad-finding-new-muggle-objects happy. Hermione was normally all... normal happy. But today she was happier than usual. Which is what alarmed Ron.

She met Malfoy last night.

Naturally, Ron was jealous. He'd spent years trying to get Hermione to like him, succeeded for a brief period of time, but Malfoy just struts along and proclaims his love and swoops Hermione into his arms! That's not fair!

So Hermione walks in perfectly on time, which is late for her, and she sits right next to Luna! She didn't give Harry or Ron a second glance. She normally sits between the two. But when class began, Ron noticed her give Harry and himself a weird glance... Was that guilt in her expression? She definitely looked guilty. She then saw Ron looking at her, gave a nervous half smile, and then turned and ducked her head into her parchment, hurriedly scribbling her Quill over the work.

Ron kept a watchful eye on Hermione the entire class and noticed something; she was giving a lot of looks to Malfoy. The two, Hermione and Malfoy, were definitely together, in a relationship sort of thing. Her looks weren't curious, "What's Malfoy up to this time?" looks; they were, "Draco I love you please marry me pretty please we can ride off into the sunset on your unicorn and live happily together with Ron sulking in the background!" looks.

Harry could sense that Ron was in a bad mood, though he didn't know from what. And Hermione... What was she up to? She looked so happy this morning, which is a good thing, Harry supposed, but she didn't say why. They'd been best friends since day one. You'd think that she'd tell them. But when Hermione secretly crept away from the two, and Ron not-so-nonchalantly ran after her, Harry knew the two were hiding something from him. And Harry was certain that Malfoy was involved in all this.

Ron followed Hermione down several long corridors until he saw Malfoy. Hermione ran up to the git, hugging him and-- did that really just happen?-- snogging him. Ron shuddered. Snogging Malfoy? Now, snogging Ron would be perfectly acceptable, but Malfoy, of all people!

Ron turned on heel and left, no longer interested in watching Malfoy and Hermione suck each other's faces. He wondered if maybe they heard him, but probably not over the sounds of their own mouths.
