So I wrote this myself last year when my family as going through a really rough patch, not much has changed from a year ago. Also I want to point out that he has never hit her, its just a fear that he will.  UPDATED

She could always hear it, in the back of her mind. It would never leave her, it would never die. The loud dull thud and the screeching of the brakes and the scratching of its claws continued to make her heart ache. There was so much anger and so much fear as she and her mother ran, they feared to be near. His angry shouts and heavy feet filled the cold dark night for when he caught them she knew they were in for a fight.

He grabbed her mother full force by the throat and just she stood frozen with fear as she watched her mother begin to choke. When finally she was able to move she kicked and punched him will all her strength, forcing him to release his iron clad grip. He dropped her mother on the cold hard road like a ragdoll as he began to falter in his power trip.

Her body trembled but not from the cold, it was with raw fear of the one she called father. Tears of sorrow streamed down her cheeks, was she next would he really harm her? With a look of disdain upon his face he forced her mother to stand, dragging her back to the car. She wanted to scream and she wanted to run but she knew he would catch her and she wouldn’t get far. The rest of the trip back home slow, silent and tense although he had fallen asleep she and her mother dared not utter a single word.

When finally they were home she ran into the house but still she could hear them yelling, she could hear them screaming and she was scared as hell. She spun on her heels and ran from there faster than a startled gazelle. The sound of her footsteps echoed into silence and then they started up again.

She cried and cried, so much so her tears turned to dust. Her life had fallen apart and her heart was crushed. She screamed a silent plead for the fighting to stop, but it went un-answered, her home is turned into a war zone as his voice reached the top. She feared what was to come next, but it never did. The sound of his hand hard upon her mother’s face thankfully did not abuse her ears. Once in one night was more than enough, this small mercy gave her a small amount of faith.

She slid off her bed and edged to her door, but jumped back startled as a deer in headlight as the back door slammed shaking the place. The sound was like a blessing and music to her ears because for a short while the fighting had stopped and he was nowhere near. She creped from her room to where the fight had just taken place. When finally she saw her mother she instantly wanted to cry, because the fear and pain still lingered in her beautiful big blue eyes. She ran to her mother’s side and held her tight as finally she began to cry as another piece of her soul slowly began to fade and die.
