People think that cancer paitents sugar coat their stories, but typically, they're wrong.  I'm fifteen years old, and well, I haven't quite found love.  I'm okay with that though.  Most fifteen year old girls think they need love to be happy, when in reality, all you need is your own happiness, the kind that you decide to make.  Fate doesn't choose your path of life, you chose it.  You choose whether or not you're sad about something, you choose your friends, you choose almost everything in your life.  Maybe that's why people are so astonished when they see me, a cancer paitent, always happy.

"Anastasia Jones?"  silence.  "Anastasia?"  I look up from my book, realizing Mr.Land was calling me for attendance, it was the first day of school, and my first day in this school ever.  "Oh, here!"  I say embarrased.  Everyone was staring at me.  Some people stared at my oxygen tank, and then turned to whisper something to their friend, and some people just smiled at me and turned around.  I payed no mind to them and went back to reading Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

It was period one, english, so I thought that I could read, but I guess not, stupid rules.  When I was told we're not supposed to read unless told, I was frustrated, especially when Mr.Land said "Lancaster policy."  I had reluctantly put my book in my bag.  I could not wait until next period.  Gym.  The stupid school put me in a gym class, even though I can't participate... Hello?  Lung cancer here!  The only reason I was excited was because I got a free reading period.

To some people, I guess I'm a nerd.  I love to read, and I love to write.  It may be weird to some people, but It helps me get away for a bit.  Who doesn't like to slip out of their life for a period of time?  It makes it seem like oblivion is impossible, and sometimes, just maybe things will go your way.

"To kick off the first day, I'm going to give you an assignment.  You have to write an essay on yourself.  This may sound great and all to some of you, or maybe some of you will shrug it off, but I want to know how you think, and what interests you.  What do you already know about literature?  Things like that.  I'd like at least two pages worth.  It is due in two days."

The rest of the class was a free period.  We would either get to read, or start our essay.  I pulled out my book, and I started reading.  That's when my oxygen tank was kicked over, and my breathing tubes pulled out of my nose. I bent over to pick them up as the same time as someone else, and we knocked into eachother.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it.  Honestly."  The boy said.  He handed me my breathing tubes as he looked up to me.

"It's okay.  I'm Anastasia, but you can call me Anne.'' He smiled, showing his perfect teeth.

"I'm Ethan.  Ethan Harth."  He said right as the bell rung.  "Well nice to meet you Ethan.  Where are you headed?"  I said as I repositioned my breathing tubes.  "I'm going to gym.  You?"

"Same place."  I put my books in one arm, and grabbed my oxygen tank with the other.  That didn't last long.  "Here, let me."  Ethan said grabbing my books.  "Thank you, but you don't have to."  I said tryig to take them back.

"No, it's my pleasure to carry books for such a beautiful girl."

"Dad, I'm home."  I said as I walked through the door.  There was an unusual silence, because my father was always home.  I shrugged it off and started homework.  All I had was that essay anyways.

I decided to write on how I have cancer, and my interests?  Reading.  What I know about literature?  Oh, well that's a lot.

Writing my essay took me two hours, but I read it over, and it seemed nice.  I went onto Facebook, and looked up Ethan Harth.  He came up right away, so I hit the friend request button.

*Ding*

I looked in my messages.  Ethan.

Ethan Harth- Hi Ana :D

Anastasia Jones- Hey Ethan :)

Ethan Harth- Do you have a Skype?

Anastasia Jones- Indeed I do.

Ethan Harth- What's your user name?

Anastasia Jones- AnaJones530

Ethan Harth- I'll be adding you.

Anastasia Jones:  I'll be accepting.

Ethan Harth: Okay :)  Bye.

Anastasia Jones: Bye

Later that night, we skyped, and we talked until my dad got home, which was about three hours after I finished my essay.  I don't know what it was about Ethan, but he was cute.  He intrigued me, He was very smart.  His blue eyes were captivating, and his hair was perfect.

Hiya guys!  This is about the only authors note I'll do like this.  Tell me if you liked this chapter and if I should keep going!   I know it's short, I promise, I'll make it better next time.(If there is one)  Just to let you know, Nash Grier plays Ethan, and Shailene Woodley is Ana.  Anybody who's read TFIOS would know why ;)
