Lockdown

Chapter 2

I walked into the school building with a frown on my face. Am I the only one who hates school? I know I get good grades, but I only do it because people expect me to. It doesn't mean I want to. 

I had my bag slung over my shoulder and my duffel bag in my hand. I need to stop by the locker room so that I could put my bag in my locker. There weren't that many people here yet since school doesn't start for another 30 minutes. I just like coming earlier. 

"Val!" I heard a voice coming from behind me. I stopped in my tracks and spun around so that I could see who it was. My best friend Calla came running up to me. Her cyan blue orbs were filled with excitement. I've always envied her. She's perfect. 

Her blond hair is always smooth and perfect, her eyes always shine and are such a perfect shade of blue, and her body is so perfect with curves. My hair is always frizzy, my eyes are just a boring brown—the color of poop, and my body doesn't have very many curves. It's just not fair!!!

She had her hair braided over to the side. She wore a blue jumper, white skinny jeans, and a pair of blue Vans to top it off. And I'm hear wearing a plain black hoodie, a white t-shit, leggings, and my black Converse. 

Man am I so fugly.....

"Hey Calla." I waved with a smile on my face. "What's up?" 

"Ryan Miller asked me out." she gushed as blush started tinting her cheeks. I mentally rolled my eyes. I am happy for her, but its just that Ryan is part of Zeke's entourage. He's one of them. 

"Really?" I asked with fake excitement. I would've told her that Valentina Harper did not approve of that douche, but she's always had this massive crush on him and I am happy that she actually caught his attention. But who knows, for all we know, he could just be fooling around with her just to get laid and then BAIM!!! Dumps her for another female. 

"Yeah! He asked me yesterday after lacrosse practice." I tried my hardest not to scoff. Must've been before I encountered him, Zeke, and the rest of the doucheassnugget squad. 

"Congrats!!! I'm so happy for you!" I beamed. Being the friend that I am, I want to give her as much support as possible. So I might as well get used to the fact that my best friend is dating one of Zeke's friend. "So when's your date with him?" We both start walking towards the locker room. 

"Today after school." she answered as we reached the door to the girls' locker room. I pushed it open and we both made our way to my locker. I did the combination on the lock before opening it. I stuck my duffel bag inside before slamming the door closed. 

"That's nice. Where are you guys going to go for your date?" I interrogated just to see how much of a gentleman Ryan is. 

"We're going to go to the movies." she replied with a pensive look in her eyes. The movies?! That's like the oldest trick in the book! He's probably going to do that thing when they yawn, stretch, lean, and cuddle which leads to staring in each other's eyes and then kissing. Then there's that moment when they both reach for popcorn and end up touching hands which leads to holding hands and then so forth. 

"Great." I forced another smile before we start heading out of the locker room. Thankfully, it isn't trashy and smelly. It's actually pretty nice. The tiled floor is clean from any trash and there's no dust or cobwebs. The walls are white with turquoise strips at the bottom. The lockers were painted turquoise as well since that and white are our school colors. 

When we left, we started walking to our first period class since it was an odd day. On odd days we have periods 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th and on even days we have periods 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th. Thank God both Calla and I ended having 1st and 5th together. We have lunch during 5th and 6th period depending on what our classes are. So I share the same lunch as Calla on odd days. On even days I sit with the basketball team.
