"So how was dinner?" Pam asked walking into the kitchen the following morning. She went straight to the coffee maker and poured some coffee out of the pot Tammy made during her morning routine. Tammy rolled her eyes and finished cutting up Mya's food on her plate.

"I shouldn't tell your butt nothing considering how you flaked on me and all, but since I don't have anyone else to tell you lucked up"

Pam couldn't help but chuckle at Tammy's mock anger toward her. After kissing Mya on the cheek she sat down at the table waiting for the verdict.

"Well.......how was it?"

"It was.....nice" Tammy said slowly trying to find the right words to say

"That's it......just "nice".....come on Tammy now I know you can say something better than that"

Even though the dinner started out a little bit rocky Tammy could honestly say it ended on a good note. She couldn't lie to herself and say that it didn't feel kind of good to have a family dinner that consisted of someone other than just Mya and her for a change. She didn't know if she was high off the fact that for a little moment they felt like a family or she was just lonely as hell.

"Ok it was really nice" Tammy said in a huff. That was all Pam was going to get out of her. She couldn't make herself admit how good a time she really had cause it scared the hell out of her. I mean the conversation was so easy that it almost felt like old times when they met in college and could talk for hours on in about life and their goals and dreams. Only this time they talked about what all has been going on since their separation.

"We'll I guess that's all I'm gone get out of you huh?"

"Yep pretty much" Tammy said smiling

"Good thing I know you well enough....on account of the fact you hate the ground John walks on but said the dinner went "really nice" either meant he choked on his food and died or the dinner actually went amazing. And since you sitting here and not at the hospital I'm going to go for the latter"

Tammy took that exact time to burst out laughing before wiping Mya's mouth, and getting up from the table.

"I'm about to head out to the shop....what do you plan on doing today?"

"Well I thought I would hang out around the house with Mya while you work today. I've barely spent time with her since I've been here, and since I'm leaving tomorrow morning I thought I might spoil her a bit."

"As if she needs more spoiling" Tammy said under her breath even though Pam heard her.

"You want to spend the day with Auntie Pam?" Tammy asked smiling at Mya. She immediately started bobbing her head up and down and proceeded to try and climb off the stool Tammy had her on.

............................................................

Later Tammy came into the kitchen of the diner and washed her hands. "How has everything been this morning Mrs. Walker, a lot of customers?"

"Nope just the regulars..........you look different"

"Different? What do you mean?" Tammy asked perplexed as she turned around to look at Mrs. Walker

'hmmmm I can't put my finger on it....just...different. How was your evening last night?"

Tammy tried to not change her facial expression to give away any indication she might have done something out of the ordinary. Even though Mrs. Walker basically asks the same question almost every morning Tammy couldn't tell if she knew her and John had dinner or not. So just to be on the safe side and avoid a major grilling Tammy lied through her teeth.
