Chapter 2: Friends

Jordan's POV

I returned to school the next day, feeling much better. I was absolutely dreading going to my fifth period because I didn't want to have to explain what happened yesterday.

I got to my art class and sat down, waiting for the bell to ring.

"Jordan, right?" I lifted my head to see a tall boy, around six foot who had shoulder length black hair and bright blue eyes.

"Yeah." I said. He looked so familiar.

"I'm Andy. I'm also in your math class."

"Oh." I said, realizing he knew what happened to me.

"Yeah, why don't you come sit with me?"

"I need to stay up front."

"Oh, okay." He said, walking away. I put my head back down, hoping no one else in here was in my math class. All of a sudden, I heard noises next to me and lifted my head to see Andy had put his stuff next to me. He sat down and smiled at me.

"You can't get rid of me that easy." He chuckled. "I've been the new kid, it sucks, so I'm determined to be your friend. So, what brings you to Ridgemond?"

"My dad's job transferred."

"Where did you live before coming to Ohio?"

"Maine." I said and he nodded.

"So, what happened to you yesterday?"

"I just got sick." I said. He nodded and changed the subject. He talked to me for the rest of class and thankfully didn't bring up what happened again.

I went to two more classes and then it was lunch time. I got in the line, bought my lunch and looked around for a table to sit at.

"Jordan!" I looked and saw Andy waving me over to his table. I walked over and saw he was sitting with another girl. "Sit down." He said. I sat down next to the girl and across from him. The girl looked really familiar.

"Do I know you?" I asked.

"I'm Sky. I'm in your math class. I'm the one who helped you to the nurse's office."

"Oh, thank you." I smiled. She was fairly pretty. She had waist length black hair, light blue eyes and was about 5'3" and was wearing heavy eyeliner.

"No problem. So, what was wrong, if you don't mind me asking?"

"I just felt sick." I shrugged, avoiding the real reason.

"Oh, okay." She said. We just sat in silence for a whole, eating our food. "So, Andy tells me you moved here from Maine?"

"Yeah, we moved because my dad lost his job, but he found one here. Moving sucks. Ohio sucks. Sorry." I said quickly, hoping I didn't insult them.

"No it's fine, we all hate it here. I'm going out to Los Angeles as soon as I can. I want to start a band." Andy said.

"Oh, really?"

"Yeah, it's always been my dream. I love music and my parents are totally supportive."

"What can you play?" I asked, hoping to turn the attention away from me.

"I sing, play bass, guitar and keyboard. But if I ever started a band, I would want to be the lead singer."

"Oh, maybe I can hear you sing sometime?"

"Maybe." He smirked.

The bell rang, dismissing us from our fourth period class so that we could move on to our fifth period class. The class I had been dreading all day. I slowly walked to my class, getting their barley before the bell.

I walked in and since my seat was right in the front, I had to pass everyone to get to my seat. I hung my head, feeling their eyes watching me as I walked. I sat down, pulling out my journal and staring at my desk.

After we finished notes, we were allowed time to do our homework so kids would keep getting up and walking to the teacher's desk. As they would walk past, they would stare at me, making me feel very insecure and annoyed.

After what seemed like the longest hour of my life, the bell rang and I raced to my next class. Thankfully, no one talked to me, but the staring was just as bad.

I was sitting in my bed, playing a game on my phone when an unknown number started calling me. I shrugged and answered it.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Jordan? It's Andy."

"Andy? How did you get my phone number?"

"I have my ways, that's not the point."

"Okay, why did you call me?"

"I've been thinking about something all day. You told me in art you moved because your dad's job transferred. At lunch, you told her your dad lost his job. Which is it?"

"Uhh."

"Call me nosey, I don't care, I just want to know."

"Yeah, he lost his job. I guess it just slipped out."

"Oh, okay."

"Yeah, well, I've got to get back to doing homework. See you tomorrow." I said and hung up.
