Ethan Wate's face appears on the small tv screen the dwarfs have. I have no idea what he's planning to say or what he's planning at all. Carter and Marisa are cuddled up in a sofa and Lacey is already sitting on the couch watching the tv. A couple of other dwarfs are on the ground and on the other couch, some even have popcorn. Chase takes a seat next to Lacey and I take a seat next to him.
Ethan is on a stage in front of the Royal Castle. Two guards are off on the side lines. I don't get why he would even need guards, no one in Colina has the guts to try and kill Ethan. I don't know if it's because they know he's powerful and strong, or because they believe that it's right to stay in one place all your life.
Ethan delivers a speech on how he's planning to run Colina. He wants the Forgotten to stay where they are because he doesn't trust them to not betray him. I just wish Colina would see that Ethan can't be trusted. He wants stronger wards because of demon attacks. It's getting closer and closer to June 13, the day Lilith will come out of Hell.
Almost everyone is certain that she will come because it's been about 300 years since the first war. She actually hasn't really come out since then. Some people also believe that her lover, Aurthur Handel, is still alive. For that to be true he'd have to be a warlock because they live forever.
"Do you know what happened to the Queen, Jocelyn Fairchild?" A reporter I don't recognize asks him. Chase gives me a quick side look at the mention of Jocelyn's name.
"Well actually yes, Jocelyn Fairchild ran out of the wards because she heard that one of her Forgotten friends was ill. She must of got killed by a demon," Ethan tells the story of a lie.
"He's a liar! That's not what happened!" I raise my voice and sit up straight.
Chase is about to respond but then the reporter asks another question. "Do you know what happened to Bree Fairchild?"
"Well I'm assuming she ran out to find her mother," Ethan lied for me. He knows the truth. Why would he lie about that though?
"Do you think she'll come back alive? Or come back at all?" The reporter asks.
"Probably not, it's dangerous out there. Valencia is filled with demons and she's not exactly the strongest person I've met."
The crowd giggles at that. I feel kind of offended and slump back in the couch and bring my knees to my chest.
"Don't listen to what he says," Chase whispers to me.
"Do you want her to come back?" My eyes widen at the girl who asked that question, my best friend did, Maia Anderson. "Because she's my best friend and I miss her like heck!"
Maia Anderson is my best friend and has been my best friend since we were six. She's absolutely gorgeous with her cropped auburn hair and stunning brown eyes. Maia has been through thick and thin with me and God do I miss her.
I can tell Ethan doesn't know how to answer. He practically hates me and definitely doesn't want me to come back because I can oppose a threat to the crown. He wants to rule Colina alone, or at least not with me. "Well, I hope she doesn't die," that's how Ethan answers.
Colina claps and cheers for him. The camera is now pointed to the crowd and I can see Maia looking around annoyed with her arms crossed. Ethan finishes this interview speech thing with a warm goodbye. He's so fake.
"That was stupid," I pout. "He's fake."
Lacey laughs. "He was definitely lying on everything."
"You can tell he's lying from here?" I ask curious.
"I can tell if anyone, or anything, is lying just by looking at their eyes," Lacey answers.
"Who was that girl? The girl that said she misses you?" Chase asks me.
