                                Chapter One

              A New Beginning.

“Honey you really should try to get an apartment.” My mother said with the same look on her face she would use when she felt sorry for somebody.

“Mom, you know how hard it is to find a place for a reasonable price nowadays.” I gave her the look back. Or at least I tried.

“Well sweaty, you know you will always be my little girl, but you need to spread your wings.” My Dad said agreeing with her like always.

“Sweaty don’t you think it’s about time to settle down and get married and have children?”

“Mom! Im only 19!” I shouted.

“Stephanie Nicole!” My dad yelled. They always use my middle name when im in trouble, “Do not shout at your mother.”

“Sorry” I mumbled

“Well look here!” he said exited “there are some kids about your age looking for a room mate.”

“Let me see”

                  Looking for a room mate

We are all 19 years old looking for a

         Room mate the same age.

We have an Extra bedroom we

          Never use and have Decided

To fill it. Rent is only to buy

Groceries Every once in a while.

          Call the number below for

          The address.

“Aright I will call but you can’t blame me if they don’t like me.” I said. I excused myself from the table, rinsed off my dishes in the sink then ran up to my room and grabbed the cell phone off the charger. I went back down stairs and punched the number into my phone. I was nervous when it rang 5 times without answer. Then right before the answering machine got it I heard a voice on the other end.

          “Hello?” he sounded groggy

“Im sorry did I wake you up?”

“Yah but its fine I need to get up in 10 minutes anyway.”

“Let me guess your calling about the bedroom”

“Yes” I must not have been the only person to call. I started to get nervous again.

          “Well how old are you?”

          “19”

“Alright you can home over later at about 6.”

“Okay!” I tried not to act exited but I couldn’t help it.

When I went back into the kitchen my dad was gone but my mom was over at the sink clearing dishes.

“Dad left already?” I asked my mother. She didn’t turn around but she said, “Yes.”

“How about you go get dressed and we will go to the mall.”

          “Why?”

“Because I want to spend time with you before you move out.” When I didn’t say anything or move she said “you can get whatever you want”

“Okay” I jumped up and ran to my room. I went through my closet until I found a good pair of jeans and pulled on an aropostale top. Then threw on my bootees I got for Christmas. Then I grabbed my phone and checked for messages. I knew I didn’t have any but I still check. Then I grabbed a DC jacket off my bed and ran downstairs. My mom was waiting for my by the door looking at her watch.

“Wow that’s a record.” She laughs… but I wasn’t. Doesn’t she know it takes time if you want to look your best?

When we got to the mall there were so many cars in the parking lot. It took us a while to find a parking spot. The spot was all the way in the back so we had to walk all the way to the front. When we got there we looked back and saw at least 5 open parking spots in the front. We just looked at each other and laughed.

We walked in and walked around and decided to go into Bath and Body Works first. Mom mostly liked the stuff. She kept sniffing and going “MMMMMM”. The only thing I really liked was the mini keychain hand sanitizers. One was called “Vampire Blood”. It was pomegranate scented. Mom bought some candles and I bought 5 hand sanitizers because they smelled really good.

Next we went into Abercrombie and Fitch. I was over by a rack with white tops when mom came over and nudged me in my arm.

“Hey Steph!” She whispered. “That boy over there is looking at you.”

I looked over and saw him. He was and I didn’t even realize it! Plus he was cute!

“Wow mom, maybe you do have good taste.” I whispered back. I laughed but she didn’t.

He noticed that I was starring at him so he came over to us. Without him not noticing I nudged mom in the arm. She got the cue and walked away. He told me about everything in his life but every time I tried to say something he would interrupt me. He gave me his number… im definitely not calling.
