The Journey - The College Years [One Direction Fanfic]

He sits down in front of me and we start talking about the university. He is studying music in his second semester here and went to the same high school as Liam. By the time I finish my food I grab Liams keys to go get the dog. "Oh, are you leaving already? I thought you might wanna go for a walk?" Joey asks. "Yeah, I'd love to. Just need to take Liam's dog with me, I promised him." "Oh yeah, Liam and his cute little dog. Alright I'll wait outside the diner for you" he says. I go to Liam's room, get Loki and walk back to the diner with him to meet up with Joey. We walk around campus for a while and he shows me places I didn't even know they existed. After 20 minutes of walking we sit down on the stairs in the entrance of the campus. "There's a cool party off campus tomorrow night, would you like to come with me?" he asks me. "Uhm, I don't know. Maybe" I answer because I don't want him to think I am interested in hooking up with him or something. Joey is really nice to hang out with, he's funny and chill and the fact that he's the same height as me makes him seem like a little brother to me. 

After almost two hours of walking around we walk back to Liams room and I bring Loki inside and fill up his water and food bowls before leaving. Joey insists on walking me to my room since it's dark outside and I am quite thankful for that actually. "Hanging out was nice" I say. "Definitely. We should hang out more often" he answers. Before walking into the building my dorm room is we stop at the coffee shop and I get a Vanilla Latte. When we arrive at the dorm room Joey steps in front of me and smiles. "Well goodnight then" I say and smile, too. He nods and leans in as if he wants to kiss me but I shy away right before his lips touch mine. "Joey, I'm not… interested like that.. I mean, I'm not.. I am not available" I stutter and his face falls. "Okay, uhm. Sorry, Lindsay. I didn't want to…" he starts but I interrupt his sentence. "It's okay, see you around" I quickly say and stumble into my room. I close the door behind me and let out a deep breath. That was weird. But it wasn't his fault, I should've told him I had a boyfriend at the beginning. But that would be weird, too. Ugh. College is weird.
