Percy Jackson

“What about this one?” Annabeth asked, turning Percy’s attention to the laptop Annabeth had on her lap.

“Stony Brook?” Percy asked as Annabeth nodded. “Where is it?”

“New York,” Annabeth answered. She handed him over the laptop, pointing to the screen. “Read about it.”

Percy snorted. “I’m good.” Annabeth rolled her eyes. “Annabeth, we’ve been looking at colleges all day. Can we take a break?”

Annabeth rolled her eyes again, but took her laptop back and closed it just as their good friends Jason and Piper walked in. Along with everyone else at camp, they thought of it as no big nuisance to simply walk into his cabin. Not that Percy minded much. Only when he was trying to sleep. Then he minded. A lot.

“What’re you guys doing?” Piper asked, her hand in Jason’s.

“Looking at colleges,” Annabeth replied, putting her laptop back on the desk and spinning slightly in her office chair.

Piper looked annoyed. “I still have another year of high school.”

                “Better than college,” Percy scoffed.

Piper shrugged.  She took a glance at the time and raised an eyebrow. “Wow, it’s later than I thought. Are you guys coming to the campfire?”

Percy and Annabeth shared a look. Percy had a strange feeling, although he didn’t know why, that it would be better to just be alone with Annabeth tonight. “No, we’ll stay here,” Annabeth answered for him.

Jason nodded. “Yeah, I’ve had enough campfires for a lifetime.” He then turned to Piper. “My cabin?”

She smiled. “Sure.” She turned to smile and wave at Percy and Annabeth. “We’ll talk to you guys later!”

                “Bye!”

They walked out the door, leaving the two alone again. Annabeth spun in her chair again, silence taking the place of Jason and Piper.

“Do you feel slightly… Off?” Annabeth suddenly asked.

Percy didn’t even have to think about it. It wasn’t so much of a bad feeling in his gut, but more of a cautious one. “Yeah.” Once he saw Annabeth’s worried expression, he knew that was the wrong thing to say. “Let’s not worry about it though.”

                “But what if-“

“We’re overreacting? Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.” Annabeth glared at him. “Annabeth, come on. Let’s just go on a walk or something.”

                Annabeth sighed, giving in. “Alright.”

“This is nice,” Annabeth breathed, placing her head on his shoulder.

Percy nodded, looking at the water slowly move with the waves. The sun had long set, and he could hear the campers at the campfire. There was mostly silence between the two, but it was comfortable. After Tarturas, which he still had nightmares about, Percy appreciated silence.

“I got accepted to Harvard,” Annabeth suddenly blurted out. Percy raised an eyebrow as they met eyes.

“That’s great,” he told her. Annabeth looked relieved, like she was afraid he wouldn’t let her go or something. “Architect?”

“Of course,” she said, cuddling closer to him as a cool breeze hit them. “I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else.”

“That’s for sure,” Percy muttered, agreeing.

Annabeth closed her eyes, her breathing slowing. Percy watched at the uncharacteristically rough waves. He wondered for a second if his dad was mad, before forcing himself to push the thoughts out of his mind.

Percy thought back to the last year instead. Once the Giant War was finished, the Seven returned to camp; Leo, Percy, Annabeth, Piper and Jason to Camp Half-Blood while Hazel and Frank went to Camp Jupiter. They still visited each other frequently, but it felt a lot different then it had back on the Argo II.

Reyna was still praetor, along with Percy who had to lead camp long distance, since Jason refused to take back his job back. Octavian was still the blood thirsty Roman he was, but had little to say about the Greeks after they fought for them more than once.

After taking summer school to make for the hours he had lost, Percy hadn’t been kicked out of the school (to everyone’s surprise, his included) and was in his senior year. Annabeth also transferred to his school, making the year a little less torture like.

After sitting for a little longer, they started making their way to the cabin’s. The campfire was long done and everyone was in bed. As they walked through the deserted ground, they held hands, Annabeth’s head placed on his shoulder.

They made their way to Annabeth’s cabin first where they stopped at the door. Percy and Annabeth kissed, Annabeth’s arms around his neck while his were at her waist.

                “Good night,” she muttered.

                “Night,” Percy said.

Percy walked back to his cabin, running a hand through his hair as he usually did when he stressed. Something just didn’t feel right.

Just forget about it, a voice in his mind told him.

Percy opened the door to his cabin, collapsing instantly on his bed. At first, he was certain he wasn’t going to be able to sleep. He was right.

Percy ended up staring at the walls of his cabin, watching the patterns of light the moonlight made on his floor. His eyelids grew heavier but it almost felt like he was forcing them to stay open.

Finally, sleep took over him at one in the morning.

His last night in his cabin for a long time.

Hope you enjoyed! Sorry that this chapter is as short as it is; I wouldn't be surprised if it was one page, aha.
