Chapter 15

Jessica's pov

The second I opened the door, Maura greeted me and wrapped me in a bone crushing hug, it took me a second to respond, but I returned the hug happily. "Maura, hi, would you like to come in? "

"Oh, I'd love to sweety " We walked to the living room and every time I looked at her or heard her voice I thought of Niall. She had beautiful dirty blonde hair like Niall's and their eyes were the exact same. Anyone could tell Niall was her son. "So, Jess, how have you been? We haven't spoken in a while "

"I'm doing great. How are things with you? "

"Pretty well, you and Niall should come visit, it get pretty lonely in that big house when you're by yourself "

"I'll have to talk Niall into planning a lunch date for the three of us. Would you like to sit down? I'll start some tea for us "

"that sounds lovely dear " I walked to the kitchen to start the tea. Talking to Niall's mom made me nervous, it didn't when Niall and I were just friends, but now that we're dating it just feels different. Thankfully I can act normal even when I'm freaking out inside. It's about 11:30, I wonder if Maura has eaten lunch yet. I walked back to the living room to ask her.

"Maura, have you had lunch yet? "

"no "

"why don't I take you out to lunch? "

"are you sure? Love, what about the tea? "

"I'm positive " I went to take the water off a boil then realized from my nervousness I forgot to turn the burner on. I just laughed at myself then left for lunch with Maura.

We decided to eat at this cute little cafe. We talked about random things I was still nervous, but she made me laugh. Niall definitely inherited her giddiness. She told me stories from Niall's childhood and how mischievous he was.

"I remember this one day he decided to play pirates with my jewelry, he put them all in a box and he's yet to tell me where he buried them " I laughed at the story and so did she "luckily I kept my valuable jewelry locked where he couldn't get them " We continued to laugh at her stories, half of them I almost couldn't believe. Most of the stories I had never heard because they happened before I got here. She even told me a few stories about the trouble Niall and I would get into, most I didn't remember, but some I remembered like they happened yesterday.

"Oh, Maura I've had such a good time "

"I have too, but in all seriousness, I just want to say I'm happy you two are finally together, Niall couldn't have found a better girl "

"Aww, thank you " I wrapped my arms around her once again squeezing as tight as I could, she gave me a warm smile once I let go. "You ready to go? "

"sure "

"Do you mind if we stop by the gym on the way back? "

"no, not at all dear " well I'm glad lunch went well and we both survived.

Niall's pov *at the gym*

I walk into the gym being immediately flagged down.

"hey man. get your gloves on. come practice punches." Harry my technique trainer yelled at me. I strapped my gloves on and walked to Harry ready to begin, he slipped the pads over his hands and motioned me to start punching.

His hands must have been burning after feeling my punches for about 30 minutes. "hey, man can I talk to you a minute? "

"sure, you need a break anyway " We walked over to the benches to get our water and talk. "so, what's up man? "

"could you do me a favor? "

"depends on what it is "

"I just need you to pick Jessica's friend from the airport, would you please? "

"this friend, would it happen to be a girl? " Harry raised his eyebrow and I knew exactly what he thinking

"yes, her name is Carlie, and don't even think about it " I pointed at him and he threw up his hands with a fake shocked expression on his face

"what? It's a new face in a small town, if I don't be friendly she'll think I'm rude "

"Harry I'm serious, you can't mess with this girl, she's had a rough time "

"and needs a shoulder to cry on I'm sure "

"and she has one, Jessica's, I'm serious Harry, don't mess with her "

"alright fine, what time? "

"around nine "

"how will she know who I am? "

"that's another thing I wanna talk to you about " I grabbed my bag and pulled out a light that resemble something you would see on a cop car. it was coned shaped, and had a strap that went under the chin. the best part? when you turned it on, it flashed bright green! "I need you to wear this "

"what?! No! "

"come on, Harry? "

"no Niall! I'm not wearing that, I don't know what you used it for "

"oh, you know " Harry wiggled his eyebrows at me

"Oh, Harry quit being a perv. You wear it on your head "

"oh my " he raised his eyebrows

"Eww, Harry, stop it " I slapped his shoulder as he continued to laugh at me. Harry did his best to make anything sexual. "please Harry? "

"alright fine, but if you take pictures, I swear to God I'll.. " Harry was cut off by the door opening and in walked my mom and Jessica. "hey " I motioned for them to come over

"hey, I'm gonna go home, so i can shower and stuff before picking up little miss hottie."

"dude. don't-" I started.

"man. clam down. I'm just kidding. see you later." Harry smirked and then walked out of the gym.

"yeah see ya "I called after him as mom and Jess walked over.
