Lilia Revenson opened her eyes, to tapping on her window. The rest of the street was quiet, the whole town was quiet, it seemed as if the whole world was quiet. Except the tapping. Tap, tap, tap, tap. She opened her window and a pure white owl handed her a letter.
"Strange way to deliver mail...but..." Lilia smiled, "Everything is strange when the Potters are your neighbors!" At this point the eleven-year-old girl believed that her best friend Albus Severus Potter was a normal boy. In fact, she believed she was normal and that the whole world was plain. This is probably another note from Albus! It looks like his bird! she thought smiling.
She turned the letter over, there was a strange red gloss seal and it said "Hogwarts" with a weird shield that had a snake, an eagle, a lion, and a badger. She considered telling her mum, well...foster-mom, it was her fifth and hopefully final. She wasn't the best foster-mother that Lilia had, had but she wasn't the worst either. Lilia rejected the idea almost immediately, she be called foolish and her foster-father would make it all worse if he was home...
She climbed onto her window sill and jumped out, the window lead to their unfenced-in-backyard.
She ran into the Potter's yard and knocked on Albus' window, the eleven-year-old, blackish brown haired, green eyed, boy opened the window, "Lilia! What is it?" he asked grinning.
"I got this letter from an owl" she handed him the letter from "Hogwarts." He took it and his eyes immediately widened.
"Hold on one second, go to the front, please" Albus said, popping his head back in his room and shutting the window. Lilia trekked around the house and to the front, Albus was already there, the door opened. Albus grabbed Lilia's hand and pulled her into the house and looked at her house to make sure it was quiet and the residents were still sleeping quietly.
Mr. Potter, or Harry, walked into the room, "Albus? What's going on?" The glasses wearing man asked for, Lilia had never been invited into the actual house before, she looked around, there was a spiral staircase leading up into a second floor. There were three framed letters hanging from the wall and an unopened one sitting on a table.
"Dad, Lilia got a Hogwarts letter!" Albus said, Mrs. Potter, or rather, Ginny Potter and Lily Luna Potter, the youngest child and the only girl, walked into the room. James Sirius Potter, the oldest son, trailed behind them. Harry took the letter and read the front.
"Lilia, this is very important and your foster parents...we'll deal with that later..." he said, "Open it" he handed her the letter.
Lilia started opening it excitedly, but stopped, "Doesn't Albus have a one too?" she asked, Harry nodded, "It's unopened if I'm correct, how about we open them together!" she said, Albus nodded and snatched up his and they pulled off their red seal excitedly, Lilia's looked like this...
"Can someone explain this to me?" Lilia asked.
Little Lily nodded, "Let me! Let me!" she shouted and started explaining quickly, "HogwartsisaschoolthatteachesyouaboutmagicandyourawitchandAlbusisawizardandI'mawitchandJamesisawizardandsoareMumandDah!"
"Lily, calm down, you know what, let me explain" James sighed, "You are a witch, not evil like The White Witch or The Evil Witch of The West. You have magic, like myself and my family, and you have been invited to Hogwarts, a school of "Witchcraft and Wizardry" to learn more about magic. I already attend the school and this will be Albus' first year," he explained.
Lilia nodded, "I think I understand... but what about books and those things?" she asked.
"Well that's easy," Albus chimed, "My family and I have to go pick up our books and I'm sure Mum would love to have you."
"Oh, yes, that would be quiet perfect" Ginny said, there was a knock on the front door, it was light and had a cheery way of ringing.
"I'll get it," Lily piped, running to the door, "Uncle Ron! Aunt Hermione! Rose! Hugo!" she shouted, hugging her relatives.
Lilia turned and looked at the strangers, she stuck closely to Albus as the rest of Lily's family went to greet the guests. "Lilia, this is Rose, my cousin, and Rose this is Lilia, my neighbor and best friend," the girls smiled, Rose had red hair and blue eyes. Lilia looked at her own hair, it was long and white and her eyes were a stormy gray.
"Were all going Hogwarts shopping together?" Rose asked and Albus nodded.
"Let's get going" Harry said, clapping his hands, they all followed Harry out the door and got in the car.
