emma's pov

Although I feel very comfortable around Michael's parents, I straighten up and wipe my eyes. Michael's parents didn't know about the car crash or about his memory.

They were off on a cruise and had no way of being contacted. I slowly approached them, looking back at Michael. Michael seems to be smiling, seems to remember his parents.

Maybe his memory is getting better? I smile and nod, knowing that if Michael wanted to tell his parents about the crash, he would say so.

I told his parents that we would have to be leaving, and they happily agreed.

I walked with Michael outside and to my car. we got in and I started the car.

I took him to Beth Maries. His favourite ice cream shop. While walking in, The owner, Beth, smiled and greeted us. I  told Michael about her and he smiled, not wanting to be rude.

We walked up to the counter, ordering what we wanted. I got plain vanilla and Michael got crazy cookie dough, which was his favourite.

I was confused on why he remembered some stuff and the other stuff just went blank.

We went outside and sat at a table. I took a spoon and started eating my ice cream. After six minutes of precise quietness, I asked Michael what he remembered.

" I remember my name, my age and my parents. I remember this ice cream. " He said playfully, nudging my shoulder. "Why does this hurt you so much? That I forgot you?"

I look down, shrugging. "I guess it's the feeling that your boyfriend can't be there for you because he doesn't remember how."

"I remember somethings. I remember, slightly, my ninth grade homecoming with someone. I think it was you. You both had the same smile."

With that, I had hope. He was getting better.
