Chapter 1- Angel
I sat comfortably in my seat as I stared openly out towards the ascetically pleasing scenery taking in all the surroundings. I noticed in the mirror that my hair was all over the place as I had just woken up and now we were in the car on our way to our new house which is situated on the outskirts of Boston, in a small town called Lexington. I tried to use the drivers wing mirror as guidance so I could brush my hair but it was no use as it was too small and far away. My phone was the next option, it had a camera on the front not necessarily used to help people brush their hair but who cares it works. "Damn knots" I said and then my dad ('Big' Bryan as he was known back in El Paso) shouted "Stop complaining you wimp, or i'll pull your hair out a strand at a time". I quickly become quiet, my dad is not one to be messed with.Ever since he lost his job as a security guard at Hawkes and Remmy Law Firm he became the man that he is today.
"How long till we get there now daddy" I asked him sweetly. Thankfully I was successful in keeping him happy . When we stopped at the traffic lights, he looked up at his mirror. his emotionless eyes looked directly at mine trying to strike the fear that was already in me. "only about 10-15 minutes now sweetheart and we will be at our new home" I nodded and looked back out the window towards the neighbourhood. There was so much going on around. Kids were playing, neighbours were gossiping and BBQ's were being set up. I sat and prayed this new home will be a new leaf in our lives. My dad carefully parked the car in the driveway as i stared with excitement at the house. "Are you sure this is ours?" i asked, It stood tall bright within the suns' rays. Our new home had a nice stone finish on the outside that worked well unlike our last house which was wooden and looked as if it was a garden shed. The garage had the architectural look of an old barn with big wooden doors secured with an alarm system. I exited the vehicle and explored the house. As I entered, the first thing I saw was the rich pine coloured staircase that stood just inside the door on the right. I caught the sparkle of a bright light bouncing at the corner of my eye and found that the kitchen had bright white tiles on the floor and a patio door that lead straight out towards the garden. That's when I saw it, a swimming pool with bright blue water that bounced about with the breeze.
I ran back out to my dad and gave him a big hug and what happened was something that wasn't typical of my father, a smile. The moment was quickly interrupted by my mother asking me to do something. "Angel, could you go to the supermarket and get some things please, heres a list." She asked.
I pretended to know where I was going when I really didn't, "Excuse me, where is the Supermarket?" i asked a lady that was walking my way.
"Just follow Bedford street and you'll be there in no time" she replied gesturing the way to go.
"Bedford street? where the hell is Bedford street?!" I repeated in my head as i looked at signs to work out where to go. I could see a large sign saying 'GAS' on it, it was a gas station. they might sell the thing I have on my list, I'll just go there. It had been a couple of hours that I had been gone for and there was an alleyway that looked like it get me there quicker. As I walked through it i kept looking around me, resulting in me bumping into someone. "ohh sorry" I said with embarrassment staring at him, he was tall, slim, dressed up well and had a small goatee. "Hey, I'm Caleb."
