The ocean came and lapped at my toes,
My hair was picked up as the wind rose.
The ocean retreated,
and dragged it's feet as if it had been defeated.
Then returned with a new found mystery,
Only to retreat and repeat history.
The waves do not like the taste of me,
I think, as my gaze goes beyond the sea.
Empty is a word to describe my insides,
To the waves something in me confides.
Numb is a word to describe my mind,
But that is the same with most of mankind.
I am the same as them,
And not one of us is a gem.
As we linger by the ocean,
Devoid of any emotion.
The danger in the sea,
Was attracted to the danger in me;
And I let the sea take me in it's white claws.
I listened to the waves applause,
As water filled my lungs.
We talked to each other in different tongues,
And a warmth covered me like a blanket of wool,
And for the first time in a long time I felt full.
