My name is Mackenzie Opalman. 17. Student at Beacon Hills High School. It's been 4 years since my mom died, and I took over the role of theta. You know betas, alphas, and omegas, but thetas are rare. They are the leaders of all werewolf packs in the continent, thetas are passed on through blood. My mother was one, and now I am. A werewolf can't kill a theta to become one, thetas can only be killed by humans or natural causes. My mom died suddenly from cancer so she never had the time to teach me how to be a theta, so I spent the last 4 years alone trying to figure out what I am. Now that I know, it's time for me to go back to school and restart my life.
*6:30 am* rriiinnGGGG
"You have to be kidding me" It's my first day back at school, and I'm already regretting this decision.
"meow?'
"Hi cat, you're not used to being up this early, are you?"
*purrrr*
The past four years has been just my cat and me alone in this huge house. It's been lonely but we made it. Now that I'm out of bed I drag myself to the shower and try to wake up. It's going to be the first time in a long time that I have to wear something other than sweats, I actually have to look nice. I pick out a dress and tights and my favorite heels, and go downstairs. Fortunately, I have enough time to make myself some pancakes before I go to hell, I mean school.
Well here I am, walking into my potential downfall. Wow, I never realized how much I hated people until I walked into school.
"Ms. Opalman?"
"Yes, that's me."
"I'm Mrs. Morris, would you like me to introduce you to the class?"
"Sure, that'd be great, thanks!"
Standing up in front of the class, I layed eyes on possibly the most beautiful guy ever. His eyes were like little swimming pools of heaven. I didn't realize that I had been staring until the teacher had to tap my shoulder and tell me to go sit down. And wouldn't you know it? The only seat left was the one next to this beautiful boy.
"Hi, my name is Issac, nice to meet you."
"Hi-i, I'm Mackenzie. But you know that because the teacher just told you that. Ha."
WOW. Could that have gone any worse? You really need to work on this talking thing, Mackenzie. Being shut up in a house for four years really does make you an awkward person. Without saying another word, in hopes not to embarrass myself anymore, I sat down and began to take down notes that the teacher was writing. It wasn't long before I started to doodle, and I drew my kitty, then I drew a little stick figure of the pretty boy, Issac.
"Is that me?" Shit, was he talking to me again?
"Huh?"
"That little stick figure with the curly hair and blue eyes, is that me?"
"Um no"
"Well that's weird since you wrote Issac below it." I giggled in hopes he'd forget about it. He did and I focused on the notes again.
*RIIINNNGGGG*
The bell rang and it scared me so I jumped and I heard Issac laugh, so I quickly gathered my stuff and ran out the door to save myself any further embarrassment.
"Mackenzie!" No no no no no, this is not happening. I turned around to see Issac running towards me, yup this is happening.
"You left your notebook back there."
"Oh thanks" And then it happened, our fingers touched when I was grabbing my notebook and sparks were felt through my entire body. I felt my eyes glow white (the color of a theta) and I quickly closed them and I saw it, his entire history, his father, the freezer, everything. I felt more powerful then I had ever felt before. This boy, Issac Lahey, changed me.
