Prologue

The year is 859, and it has been nearly a decade after the discovery of Titan Shifters. This discovery came in the form of Bertholdt Hoover and Reiner Braun, the Colossal and Armored Titan, by breaching the wall protecting the Shiganshina District and letting the Titans lay waste to what unfortunate humans that were too late to escape. However, it was some time before a boy named Eren Jaeger, my friend, had managed to harness the ability to fabricate and control his own Titan and began using this power to save humanity.

To our oblivious surprise, there was another Titan Shifter, the mysterious and emotionless Annie Leonhardt. Upon our unveiling of her abilities, she transformed into her Titan and made a desperate attempt to escape. She did not achieve this goal. Out of fear, she encased herself inside a crystalline cocoon, which upon we waited for her to release herself. It was until later that the Survey Corps supposedly killed Reiner and Bertholdt. After some time, a fateful decision was thrust upon Captain Levi to either inject both dying Commander Erwin Smith or I, Armin Arlert, with the Titan serum.

I transformed and ate Bertholdt, consuming his power.

Commander Erwin perished shortly after.

Four years passed, until Annie finally broke free and willingly gave herself up to judgement. The trial took an unexpected turn when the judge gave her the punishment of joining the Survey Corps along with being under military supervision all day and every week. She accepted her sentence without argument. Weeks later, Erwin Smith once again showed his face among the living, with his arm still missing, and resumed his duties as Commander of the Scouting Legion.

It was to our surprise that shortly after, Queen Historia Reiss, previously known as Krista Lenz, disappeared, followed by the rogue Titan Shifter, Ymir. To this day, we have not yet found them. Days later, Reiner and Bertholdt resurfaced and were captured.

Three years later, Erwin Smith had retired completely and told Eren, Mikasa, and I about an abandoned faction known as the Guardian Regiment. Upon this, Eren was promoted to Regiment Commander, Mikasa to Field Officer Lieutenant Colonel, I to Intelligence Officer Captain, and Annie to Training Officer Captain. We refounded the Guardian Corps and began our duties as such.

While still bearing the Wings of Freedom, it was the Guardian Faction's job to oversee and assist in all the regiments tasks, be it helping the Military Police in regulating the population and supressing crime acts, aiding the Garrison in protecting and repairing the walls, or assisting the Scouting Legion on missions and taking the fight to the Titans. And our regiment only accepted the best of the best, both physically and mentally.

And it has been to this day, a well praised and successful faction. Or so we thought....
