"Take a left here"
"Right here?"
"No here"
"Right here?"
"Yes"
"Okay, are we close yet?"
"Yeah, just another right up here and we'll be at the field"
I took a right turn and pulled into the parking lot, pulling into a space not far from the field.
"Do you have a jacket with you?" I asked, stepping out of the car with my green tea from Panera Bread.
"Yeah, I need to get it out of the back." Ansley replied, grabbing her jacket from my backseat and taking a sip from her lemonade.
We began our walk down to the bleachers on the visiting side of the school and sat down, scanning the field for our team.
I spotted my brother juggling a ball around, the bright blue captains armband wrapped around his bicep.
Cue the proud sister moment, I smiled lightly and sipped on my green tea.
Ever since the funeral, things had been been a little bit brighter. I missed them with all my heart every single day, but I knew they would've wanted me to be a happy go lucky teenage girl with or without them, and that's all that mattered.
The refs blew the whistle, signaling the beginning of the game and off they went.
Ashton began dribbling down the line and swiftly cut in, taking a shot outside the 18" and barely missing the goal.
He jogged back to half field where Jasper was standing and said something to him before pushing up into space on the other teams half of the field.
The punt came out and Jasper surged forward, dribbling around the midfielders and defenders. He skillfully played the ball down the field and passed it Ashton, who took one touch and slid the ball into the back of the net, scoring for Rosemont.
I cheered loudly for my brother and jumped up and down, receiving weird looks from the crowd. Hey. I was a big supporter for soccer.
A whole game later with 2 minutes to go, Rosemont was tied with Northpoint 2-2. I could barely watch the game at this point.
I held my breath as the other team got down our side of the field quickly and took a far shot, only to be blocked by the one and only bad boy. I silently cheered on the inside and released my breath.
Ashton got the ball and began working his way down the field with Jasper in tow. Jasper overlapped Ashton, receiving the ball and taking it down to the flank where he crossed the ball into the box.
The next moments were in slow motion. Ashton jumped in the air, heading the ball into the back of the net, breaking the tie.
The whole crowd began jumping and cheering, celebrating Rosemonts win. I too was cheering along with Ansley.
Ansley and I walked down to the field and greeted Ashton with a smile and a sweaty hug.
