**CAUTION
This story will include a slight violence scene. (Not really blood, but bruises, punching, slapping, and marks -doesn't directly call it a mark though )
Also, it may turn out to be a creepy story to some of the readers.
Waking up to the sound of the alarm clock, Yuki gets out of bed to start another day. She looks into her mirror and notices that her cheeks were slightly red from yesterday. It was still dark outside, as the clock shows the time; 4:41. Her sisters were yet in their dreams. Yuki smiles down at them unconsciously, and begins to get ready for the day.
5:23. The birds began to chirp, and her room was soon filled with the smell of makeup. By then her face and neck were fully covered in white. She takes the pointed brush and the red lip paint that was half empty from her using it everyday. She smiles at the mirror as she finishes painting her lips. "Perfect." She thinks to herself. After finishing up with the rest of her makeup, she chose the kimono she was going to wear; a light turquoise base with designs of flowers all over it, and a red and orange obi (picture on the bottom, the woman is a "maiko" in this picture, but let's just think she's a geisha xP ).
5:58. Yuki began to wake her sisters up. She was the oldest one of them all, so she was in charge of taking care of them, as their new parents told her so. She was once the youngest of all the sisters, but the others have became adults and left the house and more girls became part of their family. The kids woke up, and started to get ready like Yuki. She helped the younger ones do their makeup and get dressed.
She still had some time left, since the ochaya -a restaurant where geishas entertain the customer and serve the meal- opens at 9. Walking down the stairs to the kitchen, her new mother, Keiko was already staring at her with her dark brown eyes. "It's about time you woke up." She scoffed, and her eye landed on Yuki's kimono. "I see you decided to wear your mom's old kimono today, huh?" She says with a scornful smirk on her face. Yuki looked down at it, and smiled as she nodded, ignoring her hateful tone. "You need to forget about her honey, she's never coming back."
Keiko was right, she thought. Her parents were killed in a fire when Yuki was still very young. The kimono was one of the very few mementoes of her mother. Yuki was then sent to an orphanage, and was adopted at the age of 13 by Keiko and her husband. They owned the ochaya, and the children that they adopted helped them out with the restaurant.
"Now hurry up and start making breakfast, we don't have all day!" Keiko demanded, and all Yuki can do was nod. She walked over to the kitchen and cooked breakfast; rice, vegetable soup, grilled sanma, spinach, and fried eggplants.
After all 5 of her sisters and parents finish eating, the second oldest girl Fumi helped Yuki with washing the dishes. They smiled at each other. Most of the chores were her duty, but the other girls are learning how to do them little by little as well. Teaching the kids these things were also one of Yuki's job, and she is patient while doing so -letting the girls take as much time as they need to learn the many skills.
9:21. The first customer of the day walks in the restaurant. "Irasshaimase!" Keiko greets them with a cheerful voice she only uses towards customers. She leads them over to a small room for each of the party to eat. Soon, Yuki was called to entertain them while they waited for their mean to be served. She was really good at the playing the Shamisen - a traditional Japanese lute with three strings. She played other instruments too, as well as dancing and playing games with the customers.
15:16. It was Honoka's first time entertaining a customer, and Yuki was next to her to support her. You were able to see how nervous she was, since she was slightly shaking and stuttered whenever she spoke or sang, but she soon got the hang of it. There were smiles planted on both the customer and Yuki as she finished her performance.
18:47 - There was a noise of glass smashed in the hallway. Keiko was the first one to see what happened. There were sake spilled on the floor as well as the shattered glass cups, and Moe had tears streaming down her eyes and repeatedly whispered "I'm sorry". But those words didn't reach Keiko's ears. Her eyes were filled with anger, like a bull that just saw the color red. She stormed to one of the rooms, grabbed Yuki from the collar of the kimono and threw her on the hallway floor next to where the incident happened. "This is because of you not taking care of the kids enough!!" Keiko shouted and Yuki winced. She tried to tell her that she was in the other room doing her job, but her lips didn't move. In moments a sharp pain ran through her cheek. Keiko has slapped her. Before that would go away, Yuki was attacked with another pain as Keiko's fist met with her other cheek. Moe was crying harder. "This better be cleaned before I come back here or that's not gonna be the end of it! Got it?!" She marched away without waiting for a response.
Yuki soothed Moe, petting her head to let her know it was all right. She soon fell asleep, tired from crying too much. You were able to see that her eyes and nose were red, even with the makeup on. Yuki carried her non biological sister to their room and laid her down on the mattress. She went back to the hallway to clean up the mess, just as she was told.
The chime rings and the clock reads exactly 11 P.M. Keiko puts the "closed" sign on the door of our restaurant, and the job for today is done. Yuki walks upstairs to her room, and tries not to step on any of her siblings that are already passed out on the futon mattresses laid on the bedroom floor. Turning the dim desk light on, she begins to take her makeup off. It reveals a few bruises from that evening, but she was used to it. She reaches her lips and wipes off the makeup extra gently, as she doesn't want to rip off the stitches that are keeping her smile.
