They say the chirping of the birds in the morning is a sign of a good day ahead, but birds chirp every morning and this morning is not going to promise a good day cause there is no good day ahead of me.

Sure, the birds were chirping but there were also two other wolves watching Will and I wake up; Connor and Riley. I open my eyes a little and raise me head to view my surroundings which seemed to wake Will, still curled around me, he also lifted his head.

The two chuckled.

“Sleep good, Will?” Asked the light grey wolf; Riley.

“Shut up” Will growled lazily.

“Your father is looking for you.” Said the brown one; Connor.

“My father’s dead.” William said coldly.

“Not yours, hers” Connor signaled to me with his head.

“Well I’m not looking for my father…” I said irritably.

“But he ordered that you come see him.”

“Does he know where we are?” I asked tiredly.

“I don’t think so,” Riley.

We got escorted back to camp with hardly a word spoken between the 4 of us, but my head hung low to the ground with tiredness, Will walking right by my side, close enough that we brushed coats as we went.

“I better go,” Will growled/whispered into my ear once we came into the packs camp. I said nothing, but kept my steady pace behind Connor and Riley.

I studied the ground trying to figure out what I might say to dad, he’ll be furious. This is, what, the 6th time I’ve walked out on the pack?

“He’s in there,” Riley said roughly with a gesture to my fathers same old tent. I raised my head, took in a breath of a, squared my shoulders and went in. I was a cozy room, the ground was filled with soft grass, and the walls of the tent were red. I let out a deep breath to get my dad’s attention off looking out the other door way directly across the one I came in. He obviously was too lost in thought to her me so I decided I should just say something.

“I’m here, now, what do you want?” It was a little harsher than what I was shooting for but I wasn’t to upset about that.

“I’ve found a place for you.” He said in his same old gruff voice, though today he sounded allot more disappointed in me, like I really had no place.

“Oh yeah?” making it sound like I might actually care.

“Yes. Tomorrow I’m bringing you to the School.”

“’The School!?’” Shocked, That’s how you’d describe me right now. “What school???” I heard myself and I gotta say, I sounded pretty pissed, and that’s what I was, so first he keeps bringing me back to his cute little pack and then decides  to ship me off to some school??? Wow, some dad I got here.

“The school for Weres.” He sounded a little hurt this time. I was stunned, I opened my mouth but couldn’t find anything to say so my mouth just hung open. “Lution is just outside my tent, he’ll take you to get your belongings and bring you straight back here. You’re living at 5 am tomorrow, from now on Lucian is your guardian, he’ll be looking after you constantly until you get to that school safely.” ….. “He and I will be the ones to take you tomorrow.” Normally I’d ask him if that was all he wanted before I left but this was a lot he ‘wanted’. I walked stiffly out of the tent, eyes wide.

Lucian was, like father had told me, outside the tent waiting. “I’m Lucian, you’re fathers right-hand guy.” He paused a moment. “You okay?” after I didn’t answer he just went on. “alright, we’re going to go get your belongings, follow me.” I did. He lead me to a truck where he transformed into his human form, his hair was a chocolatey brown like his pelt was as a wolf, and his eyes were dark brown, he looked to be about 26 or so. “Well, you gonna get in the truck looking like that or what?” I transform into my redheaded form and got in the passengers door and slammed the old trucks door behind me.  “HEY! Whoa! Don’t break this new baby! She’s too nice to have to replace.” He said sarcastically and I could help hold back a small smile. “It’s okay, you don’t have to show your anger around me. I know you’re upset but you don’t need to act it around me, you hear?” I knew what he meant and it was a relief.

“Some father I got right? sending me away like he doesn’t want to see my pelt again.”

“That’s not true! You’re father loves you!”

“Sure.” Lucian started the engine and drove his way of the forest.

We came out on a deserted country road and made our way back to the city, when we got to the city I gave him directions to my apartment. I was a southern looking apartment, don’t ask me what I mean by that but it was a brownish concrete and the window-frames were made of wood, beautiful really. It would look a lot more beautiful if it wasn’t pouring. On the ride over a rain storm had quickly made its way above us and soaked anything and everything could. We drove into the parking lot on the side of the building and ran around to the front entry. Lucian fallowed me to my room/apartment which was very tighty, my view was the best and the decorating just added to the beauteousness of it.

“Wow, it’s so place you got here.” He said whistling.

“Yeah, costs enough. I can hardly pay for food and this place, but I do it, don’t I?”

I started for my room but paused in mid stride.

“What am I supposed to pack up and bring?” I just noticed being around him, I got in a considerably better mood, I was more…me, he’s one of those people it’s easy to be around and I’m glad about that.”

“Probably everything, I’m not sure you’ll be coming back here.” I actually could believe my ears, but I didn’t want to.

My mouth hung open like I was going to say something, but didn’t. “Should I help you pack everything up?” Asked Lucian

“Uh…. Yeah, that’d be good…” How were we going to get all this done before 5 tomorrow morning? It was already 8 pm.

I was just about to go to my room to start but instead I asked Lucian; “Do you want Pizza?”

“Yes, please.” I went into the kitchen and grabbed the phone and dialed the familiar Dominos number that sang in my ear…. That’s what you get when you try to remember a phone number by singing it to yourself.

“Hi, yes, medium Pepperoni… oh, hey, Lucian what do you want?”

“Sausage and pepperoni.”

“A mix of Pepperoni and Sausage, ya got that George?” Okay, I admit it, I have fun with people while I’m on the phone, George was just the name I made up forBryan—the pizza guy. I told him the address and hung up after we said goodbye.

“Alright, let’s get to work, my ride leaves at 5 am tomorrow and in that time we gotta get all this” I spread my arms around the room, signaling all my stuff. “in boxes before my ride leaves without me.”
